Starting off
Around the end of the 2005 season there will be a World Cup GM sign up. All coaches and players have top priority for becoming the GM of a team, but in the event that we fall short of the 18, owners may step in and run a country.
The 18 selected for the pool will be put in random order for country selection. Once the order is determined I will contact all prospective GMs in order until
all countries have GMs. Once you have a country its your job to select 30 players of the nationality that you control for the roster as well as making line-ups and setting the rotation.
World Cups will take place every other offseason.
What a GM Does
Owners aren't eligible to be GMs, unless I announce otherwise, only prospective coaches are able to apply. Down the road if more GMs are needed than the number of active coaches we have then owners may be selected.
GMs are required to:
- Select 30 players of the nationality they represent
- Differentiate the 25 active and 5 reserve players
- Set batting lineups
- Set pitching rotation
- Set team strategy
If a GM doesnt fulfill his duties in a timely manner he will be replaced.
The Competition
There will be 18 teams in each competition, Australia, Canada, China, Colombia, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, England, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Panama, Puerto Rico, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan, USA, and Venezuela.
There will be a week before the Cup for GMs to set up their teams.
The 18 teams will be split up into two conferences of nine and within those conferences, three divisions of three. Each team will play 48 games. They will play the teams from the opposite division six times, and their own division 42 times, with 6 bye days.
The winner of each division moves on to the playoffs as well as a wild card. All Postseason series will be 7 games.
For each World Cup teams will be grouped differently.
Time Frame
The World Cup is a total of 432 group play games. Followed by up to 21 playoff games.
A sim schedule will be announced later, but the World Cup should last between 1 and 2 weeks as of early planning stages.
