Deadline Error Fixed
6:28 AM on April 22nd by Jay Soester

A circumstance was pointed out to me by accident tonight that alerted me to a mistake in the deadline processing portion of the code of the full week pick submission page and the individual game pick submission page. I fixed the code last night before running the game standings calculations for Wednesday.

To put it simply, the pages are set up to pull the current month, day and time from the server. During testing, I have to set those three things to whatever date I need them to be tested from. When I was finished testing, I didn't realize I had changed the code to detect the current time and as a result, games were able to be picked after what is supposed to be the deadline for each day- the beginning of the first game to be played. This also allowed for games to be picked from the full week submission page after they had started.

I went through the entire email log for each pick made and checked each pick against the time of the game that was picked. Because the mistake was my fault and many may not have realized the deadline for each day was designed to be the beginning of the first game, any pick made after the first game of the day, but not before the start of the game being picked will stand as scored. That scenario only applied to a dozen to two dozen picks. Unfortunately, there were six instances of a member picking a game (or a pass) after it's start and I've gone into the system and fixed those six instances.

My apologies for the error, please make sure to remember to make your pick for each day before the first game of the day.

I'd also like to point out to some who may not of realized it- you aren't required to make an entire week's worth of picks at once before the week starts. You can use the "Submit Picks" link to make a few picks from the week, then hit submit and come back before the deadline for any of the days (including those you've already made a pick for). You can also go to the various MLB Schedule pages and click the "Pick" link on any game row and select the winner for the game from there.

If you're worried you had one of the six instances of a reversed pick, those on this list are safe:
Matt Burton, Mike Brekke, Charles Yelverton, Jason Oroszi, Tim Quinley, Jeffery Murowsky, Dwayne Williams, Mike Miles, Susan Gantz, Kraig Monkman, Javier Martinez, John Galvano, David Funke, Brad Wilson, Richard Olszewski, Jay Soester, Greg Krause, Jeff Mazurek, John Wright, Jeremy Galloway, Robert Boyce, Anders Nilsson, Nathan Susanto, Steven Jackson, Dan Haak, Dave Berrong, Aaron Burton, Kevin Cheek, Brian Secord, Kobi Akers, Ryan Drzik, Russ Goatcher, Kevin Whorton, David Synychak, Anthony Lombardo, Nick Hall, Tyson Hester, Andrew Senger, Randy Beck, Dave Hanschu, Tim Schneider, Andrew Maher, Corey Beaudoin, James Waddell, Matthew Hardman, Robert Casares, Chad Gumm, Nenad Mitevski, Colt Ciccone, Jason Hurst, Dan Choi, Joel Masse, Aaron Freeman, Derek Larsen, Patrick Cooley, Christian Giovannetti, Gianfranco Lintas

If you aren't on the list and want to know what happened, email me for an explanation.

Another loophole within the old loophole was found and fixed. Eight instances involving six members were corrected. Three of the eight members saw their scores changed, two of them by losing two points and one of them by losing a single point. Please remember to make your picks before the first game of the day.
