I hope all monthly races come down to the last day. After both Jeremy Galloway and Matt Burton won on the 29th, both picked Seattle to beat Texas in a DMU with Cliff Lee up against Colby Lewis on the final day of the month. If Seattle won, Galloway was the first playoff qualifier of the season. If Seattle lost, Burton qualified for the playoffs. After ten and a half innings without a run being scored, the Mariners squandered the bases being loaded with one out and paid for it the next inning when a wild pitch allowed the Rangers to score the first run of the game in the top of the 12th. After tacking on another, Neftali Feliz closed the game and month out in the bottom of the 12th to give Burton the playoff place with 40 April points to Galloway's 35.
Galloway's loss dropped him to 20-6 on the month, allowing Javier Martinez to post the best record for the month at 21-6 thanks to a correct DMU pick on the final day which also allowed him to sneak into third in the standings ahead of Chris Wanned. Susan Gantz had the best DMU record amongst members with at least three DMU picks at an astounding 9-1. Matt Burton & Jeremy Galloway tied for the longest streak of the month at 11, but the results on the final day gave Burton the tiebreaker to earn the extra bonus point. Chris Wanned was the only other member to reach a double digit streak in April.
The Bonus Point standings page is now fixed to not project future bonus points earned and has the final April bonus points which are also updated on the Bonus Points (2010-11) thread on the message board that keeps the running season-long standings. |
