Regular Season Results & Recap
4:51 PM on September 11th by Jay Soester

I'd like to thank all of those that participated this season and beared with the bugs here and there. Only one remains for the regular season and I plan to tackle it in the offseason.

Congratulations to Mike Brekke and his 132 points winning the first Day-to-Day competition to be featured on the league website and earning a $10 credit for a 2011 baseball team in the ASFL2 Money Leagues. He rode a 74 point June to victory with April, July and August all around 20 points (22-18-20) helping to overcome his lone bad month in May (-2). Charles Yelverton deserves plaudits as well for finishing just 16 points back and being the only other member to crack 100 points for the season. They were also the only two members to have 100 or more correct picks for the season.

Dave Berrong (84), Jeffery Murowsky (72) & Corey Beaudoin (72) all had great seasons as well to round out the top five, with Beaudoin needing a big final month to make it that far up the standings.

Dan Haak (69), Kraig Monkman (66), Stephen Schulte (66), Greg Krause (63) and David Funke (53) rounded out the top ten.

James Waddell (51) was the last member to top 50 points for the season with Chris Wanned (46), Brad Duff (46), Jason Oroszi (41) and Brad Wilson (36) capping off the top 15 to be the last to earn at least one extra game point for the first round of the playoffs.

Jay Soester (36), Robert Boyce (35), Nathan Susanto (34), Robert Flatt (31), Kevin Cheek (26) rounded out the top 20 with Mike Miles in 21st being the only other member to match or top 25 points with exactly that amount. David Synychak (24) and Chad Gumm (21) were the only other members in double digits while Aaron Freeman was the last member to qualify for the postseason without winning a month and the last member to have a positive score for the season at nine points. Freeman was ranked 60th on -33 points after April and finished 45th for May at -24 points. After just three points in June, he finished with 41 and 22 in the final two months to reach the playoffs after having his score fall as low as -59 on June 4th. His season was a testament to never giving up.

Just like with individual month results, an extra bonus point is given out for the best winning percentage, best DMU winning percentage and longest streak for the regular season. As you'd expect, Mike Brekke had the best winning percentage on the season with a record of 102-44 (.699). When you factor out missed picks, his winning percentage was even more impressive .713. David Funke finished 10th overall, but had the longest string of correct picks at 17. Dave Berrong was the only other member to get to 15 with that exact number. Jay Soester had the best DMU winning percentage among those with at least three DMU picks at 9-2 (.818). Brad Duff would have been a half game ahead of him (11-3), but his winning percentage is slightly behind at .786.

Other statistical tidbits:
  • 11 members had streaks of 11 correct picks or more with 19 reaching double digits.
  • Dave Berrong finished third with a record of 94-54 and 84 points. Half of his losses for the season were from DMUs.
  • Tim Quinley outdid Berrong with 34 incorrect DMUs to 64 incorrect picks total. He finished 29th with -14 points.
  • Quinley did finish with the most correct DMU picks, however, with 45. Jeff Mazurek was the only other member over 40 with 42.
  • John Galvano had the fewest DMU picks (7) of any member with at least 100 games picked on the season. He went 2-5 with those picks.
  • Corey Beaudoin saw the teams he picked for the year score 799 runs, more than any other member. Chris Wanned was just one run behind. Seven members total cracked 750 runs, that\'s 5.07 runs per game if all 148 days of the season were used.
  • Richard Olszewski saw the teams he picked for the year have 619 runs scored against them, more than any other member. He finished the season at -24 points.
  • James Waddell had the best run differential at +263. Stephen Schulte was the only other member to top +250 at +256. Only four members were in the negatives and none of those picked more than 48 games.

The number of bonus points earned for the regular season for each member are now updated on the Bonus Points (2010-2011) thread, the running bonus points standings for the season.
