First, my apologies for the delayed announcement. Mike Miles has been helping me all season with updating probable starters and with both of us having busy weekends I had to push things back. A big thanks goes to him for helping me keep up with things all season. With half of the games in the second round's final day nearing their conclusion a few playoff scenarios are still to be decided: Corey Beaudoin's correct pick today has assured him of a playoff place as long as the Rays don't come back to win in the top of the ninth in their DMU contest against the Yankees. If that happens, Aaron Freeman will leapfrog him into a guaranteed playoff place. If that does happen, Beaudoin can still sneak in if the Twins lose, moving him ahead of Jason Oroszi and Jay Soester. James Waddell is also alive as he needs the Reds to hang on to the three-run lead they just took in the top of the eighth in their game versus the Brewers to have a chance of leap frogging Freeman if the Rays lose and edging Jason Oroszi on tiebreaker if the Twins sacrifice their six-run lead in the ninth against the Indians. Dan Haak also had a correct pick on this round's final day, but with the results elsewhere, he's been eliminated from potentially advancing. As for the DMUs and Week 24, only one day won't have at least one DMU. The first half of the week features plenty of good matchups while the second half is a bit lacking, and the DMUs reflect that. Only one day in the first half of the week features less than three DMUs. The back half of the week features three two-DMU days and one three DMU day. The semifinals will feature ten members with all streaks again being reset and all point totals also being set to zero aside from bonus points earned from round two finishes and regular season finishes. Congratulations go out to Chris Wanned for dominating the second round with a near perfect week. Week 24 DMU Games: September 21st TB @ NYY CWS @ OAK SD @ LAD September 22nd CWS @ OAK ATL @ PHI SD @ LAD September 23rd TB @ NYY SD @ LAD September 24th KC @ CLE SF @ COL CIN @ SD September 25th CIN @ SD BOS @ NYY NYM @ PHI September 26th NYM @ PHI SF @ COL TEX @ OAK September 27th BOS @ CWS OAK @ LAA September 29th OAK @ LAA BOS @ CWS September 30th MIL @ NYM BOS @ CWS The final round will span the final weekend of the MLB season and will feature the top five in points after September 30th. Scores and streaks won't reset, unlike the start of every other round. Hopefully the final standings races of the season will be similar in excitement as the current race for the semifinals. |
