Hurricane Irene is wreaking havoc on the baseball schedule in the northeast. It started on Wednesday when the Marlins moved their Thursday contest up to the leading game of a doubleheader against the Reds. Compared to the changes for this weekend, that's a mere footnote (at the beginning of the article?). Following that same vein, the Red Sox and Phillies moved their Sunday games up to Saturday doubleheaders. The Oakland-Red Sox doubleheader was the only one to survive as it's still on for Saturday in place of anything Sunday. The Phillies original Sunday game is now their only Saturday game, while the original Saturday game is postponed until September 15th (though it's marked as 10/4 in the system to avoid being scored as an auto-loss prematurely). The Mets went the lazy route and simply postponed both of their games from this weekend with the Braves into a doubleheader on September 8th (again, both are marked as 10/4). They had already planned on a Monday doubleheader hosting the Marlins in making up a game from early August. The Orioles had scheduled a doubleheader for Saturday as part of making up a game from April, but the storm has forced them to push the original game from Saturday into a doubleheader on Sunday while the April postponement is now back into limbo. Please use the "Review Your Picks" link to check for any postponed games you've already picked. They're denoted by (#/#) with the numbers representing the new date of the game you picked. If the game has been postponed beyond the end of the month, use the "Change Postponed Pick" link to fix the pick or face a potential automatic incorrect pick. If your postponed game was originally scheduled for the 28th, and wasn't played before the end of the month, you'll receive a pass, but are free to pick a replacement game. For more info, read the "Deadlines & Postponed Games" section of the rules page. When in doubt, pick a new game. |
