Regular Season Close
6:14 PM on August 31st by Jay Soester

First, a notice of some scoring errors being fixed involving three participants.

-Greg Krause's score was being incorrectly calculated from his pick of Oakland on April 21st. I'm still somewhat baffled as to the source, but it has been corrected. He fell from 16th to 21st on 13 points as a result, but will still make the playoffs with zero extra points either way.
-Phil Hughes dropped a place from 25th to 26th after I fixed a miscalculation due to a blank pick on June 16th. He was in line to narrowly miss the playoffs, now it may be a slightly easier pill to swallow.
-Stephen Schulte dropped a place from 45th to 46th due to an error in the schedule that had St. Louis' abbreviation incorrect on June 11th.

My apologies for the errors and for not fixing them before the final regular season day. If you notice anything strange on your review page, be it in scoring or simply formatting, please notify me as soon as possible to avoid this situation.

As for the battle to make the playoffs, only one spot is available with one person outside of the playoffs having a chance of getting in.
At the beginning of the day, Andrew Maher was four points into the postseason, in 22nd place, with his only chance at missing out being an incorrect DMU pick. He's already picked Detroit correctly today to ensure his qualification.
Darrell Whitford is in the final playoff place, at 23rd on nine points, and is assured of his qualification with a correct pick. He's placed his bet on Cleveland today. Interestingly enough, he picked Cleveland on the final day of July only to see them lose, of course the consequences were far smaller.
Andrew Reynolds is the only member outside the playoff places with a chance to move in as he sits 24th on six points. Due to the fact that he isn't on a streak and can only score a maximum of two points, he needs Whitford's choice of Cleveland to lose today to have a shot. If his choice of Atlanta wins in combination with the Cleveland loss, he moves into 23rd thanks to having an overall pick record one game better than Whitford (87-65 to 86-66) with both on seven points.

Oddly enough, Corey Beaudoin is sitting comfortably in 25th as a playoff qualifier thanks to his winning July.

If you have any problems submitting your playoff picks, please email me as soon as possible. Make sure to include what you're trying to pick to ensure you don't miss a deadline. Make sure you're using the "Submit Playoff Picks" link.
