ASFL2 CFL Pickem - Rules

Introduction

Canadian Football League [CFL] Pickem is a fairly standard pickem game designed as a doppelganger to our NFL Pickem, game but with CFL games coming into play instead of NFL games. For each of the 81 regular season and five playoff games of the Canadian Football League, submit your predicted score line. Your predicted result will automatically be determined based on the scores you submit. Your predicted scores and result will then earn you points based on their accuracy.
What is the Canadian Football League? It's Canada's answer to the NFL, though the sport itself is played slightly differently. The league was founded in 1958, but the game itself dates back to 1861, as both Canadian and American football diverged from rugby around the same time. The most obvious differences are the fact that 12 players are on a 110-yard field with 20 yard endzones on either end (compared to 11, 100 and 10 in the NFL). Beyond that, CFL teams get three downs to gain ten yards instead of four and any kick to enter the endzone but not be run out by the receiving team scores the kicking team a single point (called a single or a rouge). The other important difference to note is that CFL regular season games follow the NCAA overtime rules, beginning at the offensive 35-yard line, but with a limit of two overtimes before a game is ruled a tie. For an in-depth comparison of the CFL and NFL, check out this wikipedia entry.

The regular season covers 20 weeks from the Canada Day (Canadian Independence Day) weekend around July 1st to the end of October/beginning of November with the playoffs running a further three weeks after the regular season. Teams play 18 games over the course of 20 weeks with two bye weeks per team and at least one team off per week aside from one week where a one team plays twice over the course of seven days.
