| Friday Website Downtime |

Let me begin by apologizing for the website downtime on Friday. It was down for somewhere around eight hours.
I've honored all picks that were emailed to me. I've credited those who would normally make a pick in MLB Day-to-Day Pickem with a pass for Friday if they did not make a pick. There didn't seem to be any issues in CFL Pickem. If you need to make a pick and the website isn't cooperating at any point in time, you can always email your pick to commish@theasfl.com.
Why was the website down?
The hosting company created a technical ticket for me on June 29th out of the blue saying there was a folder with too many files in it. A fairly reasonable request, but the folder and files were created over five years ago when I was a beta tester for OOTP9 & OOTPX, I had no reason to expect any issue. It's not the first time they've made a request for me to change something about the website and I'm sure it won't be the last. The server for this website is shared among many websites and the hosting company felt the size of the folder was degrading the server's performance in this instance.
When the hosting company creates technical tickets, their system automatically sends an email. Unfortunately, I've been having issues with the means I typically access the email address they sent the ticket to for the past week. That rendered me completely unaware of the issue until the website was down. As soon as I saw the issue, I rectified it and notified them of the fix. The hosting company told me the website would be back up within an hour or at worst in a few hours. I followed up with three every other hour from that point for six hours until the website came back around 6:20 PM ET, over eight hours after I fixed the issue.
You can also follow updates whenever the site is down via @asfl2 on Twitter. Hopefully that will be increasingly rare going forward.

| Malware Warnings |

I've been working for a few days to get the Malware warnings from Firefox and Chrome to be resolved.
There are ways to get around the warnings:
Chrome:
1) Click the "Advanced" link next to the "Go Back" Button.
2) Click "Proceed at your own risk"
FireFox:
1) Click "ignore this warning" in the bottom right of the alert box.
The issue is caused by the ad network on the website (Smowtion). Unfortunately, they seem to bee on the verge of going under and haven't been much help. I've been removing the ads page-by-page as best I can and will continue to do so. Please do not click on any ad that looks remotely suspicious.
I apologize for the issue and would like to reiterate that I would never knowingly put forth malware. This website is solely designed for fantasy sports, sports talk and community discussion. I have no intention of developing or releasing any sort of software at this time.
I'm currently appealing the distinction with google. Once it is overturned, the warnings should disappear entirely.

| MLB Day-to-Day Pickem Update |

The playoffs got underway yesterday with the majority of members picking correctly. Congrats to those who have made it this far. I'll be spending time each night after all MLB games have finished making sure the picks are being scored correctly. If a pick gets cleared out, please wait until morning to notify me that I need to fix it. If you notice something other than scoring acting incorrectly, please let me know.

| Message Board Is Back Up |

With the message board down for around 36 hours now, I'll use the website to give a few updates that would likely get sorted out on the message board otherwise.
First, the Message Board's server needs to be rebooted. The only person with suddenlaunch that can do that is being hunted down currently. It should hopefully be back up in the next 24 hours, but I'm setting that timetable and ultimately don't know.
Second, I'll likely wait to send out Fantasy Hockey league designations until after the message board is back and I've had a chance to post a note on all active ASFL2 Yahoo! leagues and groups. They should be sent by Sunday at the latest either way.
Third, I've been working to make sure MLB Day-to-Day Pickem is properly scored since last night and will continue to work a few kinks out after tonight's MLB games. If one of your picks goes missing, please wait until the morning to inform me and I'll fix sort things out.
And finally, I've come to a decision on the New Message Board. I had originally planned to copy over most of the information from the old board before utilizing the new message board. Instead, I'll be entering information on all active threads and slowly moving everything else over as I can. I'm currently working to pre-register all ASFL2 members in a manner that will hopefully allow for members to be universally logged in throughout the website and message board...though that's still going to be well in the future and may still be beyond possible.

| Message Board Down, Again |

The message board server is down....again. I can't do anything about it, but I'm working to find out information. I'll pass it along as I find it out.
The Point Logs Assignment was the first step toward moving the message board to the website and I will continue to work on it through the fall. If it were any other time of year it would be managable in a few weeks. I hope to get a few more things done then re-assess whether or not to switchover without much of the information yet moved.

I'm aware of the problems with all PHP files on the website and have notified the hosting company. Unfortunately, I have to wait for their technicians to get the job fixed and I have no idea how long that will take (I've been told within the night). If it's your pick in any of the Keeper League drafts, please email me your selection and I'll edit the database.
I will be adding time onto the deadline for all current picks. The server went down at 7:03 PM ET at the earliest. No one is less fond of this situation than me.
UPDATE: The problem was fixed an hour later.

My nightmare of a week continued with the website's server being down for two hours Wednesday evening (7:45 PM ET to 9:45 PM ET). As a result, I'm adding two hours onto the deadline for all picks that were due when the server went down. If you have any questions or problems, please email me as soon as possible.

The message board is functioning again. Please post any CFL picks before the deadline even if they were emailed.
I still anticipate moving to a new message board on the website properly, watch the League Office section for any postings about an assignment to help in that move.

| CFL Pickem Week 8 |

With the message board down, please email picks to Kevin Whorton (kwhorton01@hotmail.com). This week and next week are the two bye weeks in the CFL with each having only two games.
Week 8's Games are:
Winnipeg at Montreal- Thursday, 8/19 at 7:30 PM ET
Hamilton at Toronto- Friday, 8/20 at 7:30 PM ET
Please make sure you email him before the week starts.
As for the message board, the people that run suddenlaunch are MIA (and that's been known for around 18 months), but a similar problem fixed itself in a few days. Hopefully the message board will be back by tomorrow at the latest.
