ASFL2 Newsletter #13 (3/16/10)

With the NCAA Tournament bracket announced Sunday, it's time for a somewhat brief newsletter with information on the three newly available official games as well as three newly available unofficial games and a peak at the future....

2010-2011 Season Official Games

NCAA Tournament Pickem is the first game of any ASFL2 season to come to an end and shapes the overall standings for a few months. The ASFL2 group ID is 372 and the password is 123456.

If you're interested in putting money on your bracket, the ASFL2 Money Leagues have a $1 and a $5 pool with payments accepted through PayPal and Western Union. For more information check the ASFL2 Money Leagues page.

Two other official games for the 2010-2011 season are also available.

Fantasy Baseball league designations have been going out for around two weeks now. Please join your league as soon as possible to secure your place. Only 19 spots remain between the 12 leagues with the first draft being this coming Sunday.

If you're intestered in a Fantasy Baseball Money League, we have a $25, no transaction limit, 10+ team league with a live draft at 2 PM ET on Saturday, March 27th open with a few spots still available. I'm tempted to try to scrap together an 8-team league, but I doubt it'll happen.

On top of Fantasy Baseball, MLB Standings Pickem is also available as the first official game to be featured on the website for the 2010-2011 season. After signing up, you'll be picking the final MLB standings for the 2010 season. Read the rules page for the game for more information on win-loss record requirements.

2010-2011 Season Unofficial Games

We've also added three unofficial games to the slate in recent days.

Two have to do with MLB in MLB Day-to-Day Pickem and the MLB Home Run Pool. Ryan Drzik will again be running the Home Run Pool on the message board after time constraints have kept me from migrating it to the website.

I have managed to get Day-to-Day Pickem onto the website. It is now the most dynamic aspect of the website and comes with a few milestones as the first unofficial game to be featured on the website and the first ASFL2 competition to come with a non-trophy prize as the regular season and playoff champions will each be awarded a $10 credit toward a 2011 ASFL2 Money Leagues Fantasy Baseball team. The game is simple, pick one MLB team each day to win it's game. If you're right you earn points. If you're wrong, you lose points. The longer your winning streak the more points you earn per correct pick. Check the rules page for the full explanation of how the game works. The game page will also feature detailed MLB Standings pages including monthly standings and head-to-head standings as well as the full team schedule for each MLB team.

The third unofficial game is Fantasy Formula One which will also be run on the message board with Nathan Susanto & Mike Miles doing the honors.

Why participate in an unofficial game? Bonus points They're used to determine second teams in draft sports, to determine the participants in the ASASFL Third League and factor into the championship point totals at the end of the season.

2009-2010 Season Official Games

And as a final note...

I hope to get the final 2009-2010 season games, NBA & NHL Playoffs Pickem onto the website by the second week of April. If I'm unable to they'll be on the league message board. Watch the website and message board for updates. Once they've been sorted out I'll begin work on World Cup Pickem & the official and unofficial games for the fall.
