The busiest time of the ASFL2 season is upon us. I'm going to try to speed through everything as I'm way behind the time frame I wanted to get this out in. Before I get into the details, I'd like to link to a thread on the message board detailing my need for help due to recent developments in my personal life. If you have any spare time and are interested, please reply to the thread. |
There are nine games currently available, four through Yahoo! and five on the website with one of the five an unofficial game. To participate in any of our games on the website, click the "Sign Up" link on the game page then use the "Submit Your Picks" link to enter your predictions. Fantasy Premier League is the only official game already under way. The game is run through Yahoo! Eurosport and the ID is 9177 with a password of 123456. The second week of the season just concluded on Sunday. College Football Pickem is the second game in line as the first games of the college football season come on Thursday night. This season marks the game's first appearance on the league website. Each week will see 25-30 games on the docket with your job being to predict the final scoreline of each selected. From there you get 60 points for a correct pick and up to 40 points for how close your score prediction is to the correct scoreline. For the full explanation, check the rules page. Fantasy Football is next up as our drafts are already underway. It's also run through Yahoo!, but to be placed in a league, I need your draft time preferences. Only 6 spots are still available, give me your preference as soon as possible. Salary Cap Football is the last game to be run through Yahoo! that you can sign up for directly. Our group ID is 1003 and the password is 123456. NFL Pickem returns on the league website for its second season. Predict the final score of each NFL game this season. NFL Locks also returns on the league website for its second season. Pick between three and five NFL teams you think will win each week. If you're right, you gain points. If you're wrong, you lose points. The last official game, in the join phase, on the list is NFL Standings Pickem. Join the game, then predict the final NFL standings and playoff results. The deadline for entries is 8:27 PM ET on Wednesday, September 5th. Fantasy Hockey opened up on Monday. Please submit your draft time preferences to secure your place in one of our leagues. Unfortunately, with a lockout potentially on the horizon, these times may be rendered moot. The only fresh unofficial game available is Premier League Pickem. The game is already two weeks in the books, but will go on through mid-May. We also have CFL Pickem and Fantasy Formula 1 available, but much farther along. For more information about when games become available, check out the league timeline with the breakdown for all games on the official game list. Information on unofficial games is announced as it becomes known, but the list of recurring unofficial games is available on the Fantasy Games section's navigation bar. |
I'll be accepting bids for our available Keeper Leagues Fantasy Hockey teams through the weekend. I've received 4 bids for at least 4 available teams. I will likely begin sorting them out over the weekend. The new deadline to submit your players for the coming season is 11:59 PM ET this Sunday, September 2nd. I'll finish setting up the drafts shortly after that, hopefully. I hope to set up the Fantasy Basketball drafts by the coming weekend as well. Once they're set up, the bid system will be available after all promoted and relegated teams are sorted out. Hopefully everyone involved has seen the message by now, but I'm putting the ASASFL on hiatus. I needed to cut back somewhere due to a lack of time and always hoped to make more out of the competition than I was able to. |
Unfortunately, I may be nearing a point in life where my time is too limited to run everything by myself anymore. I'm hoping for some help from the masses to ensure that the league remains free for everyone to participate. I realize everyone out there has their own loved ones to take care of and their own employment to worry about, but I'm hoping someone has a decent chunk of free time (retired? collegiate?)...or even a handful of people have a few hours on a Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. Go to this thread on the message board for the full explanation of what help I need, but in general I'm looking for people to help keep games updated and others to help write articles on the front page of the website revolving around our games. Helping maintain the games involves filling out forms behind the scenes that update scores, rankings and the like. Help with articles can be as simple as writing the simple standings update for each game like I do, or you could help with a weekly preview like Nathan Susanto's regular musings. I'm not looking for experts, I can teach anyone that's willing to help. If you're not in position to do any sort of grunt work, I could use some general business, marketing, legal and/or tax advice if that's your line of work. If you're in the business of finding sponsorship and/or advertising dollars, any help in that regard would be greatly appreciated as well. If you're interested in helping, feel free to email me or please reply to the help thread. Bonus points will be given to those that help along with consideration on games that would have a cost in the future, be it for the Money Leagues or a game not yet available. |
I've finally fully automated the newsletter process to where they are now sent automatically through the website instead of my email account and they are not sent to members that are deemed retired, inactive, or banned. If you want to be removed from the newsletter's email list, you need to update your Member Profile, including your status and which games you do or do not want to participate in. I hope to have the option for active members to no longer receive the newsletter emails in the future. I've also added a "Forgot Password" button to the edit member profile page. |
