Time for another ASFL2 update. |
We're deep in the summer lull between Fantasy Baseball starting and Fantasy Football starting. Aside from Fantasy NASCAR and Golf going on with Fantasy Baseball for your fantasy sports fix, you can check for unofficial games on the message board in the Non-Yahoo! Games section. A few games just wrapped up with MLB day-to-day pickem running all summer and some form of Fantasy Olympics on the horizon. I also hope to develop a Fantasy College Football game to be run on the message board, but I'll need a decent amount of help with stat compiling/collecting if it is to work. If you're interested in helping out, please reply in this thread. You can also reply to the thread if you'd like to suggest an unofficial game for me to put together. As promised in the last newsletter, I've put a Feedback Form together for you to give me your suggestions or complaints and/or just to help me out. You can submit it anonymously or with your name and ask for a response. To fulfill another promise from the last newsletter, I also separated members into divisions within their conference based on geography. You can see the results in this thread. Before I get into Fantasy Football sign-ups, I'll reiterate my hopes to have a Message Board Tutorial up by the end of the summer, if you have any thoughts or suggestions please post them here. My other main goal for the summer is getting an official rules page for bonus points together. As I've said in the past, they will be a part of the official final standings for the league competition. If you have anything to say about Bonus Points, please reply to the Bonus Points Standings thread in the League Office section. |
And now probably the most important part of this newsletter, Fantasy Football sign-up information. I have set up 9 leagues for Fantasy Football, meaning 108-126 members are guaranteed a spot as of now. I will add a 10th league should I feel the need to. There has been a thread on the message board up for a few days where you can reply with your preferred Fantasy Football Draft time. Here are the 8 live draft times to choose from (in order of league number): Saturday, August 23rd at 7:45 PM EST Wednesday, August 27th at 8:15 PM EST Tuesday, August 26th at 10:45 PM EST Thursday, August 28th at 9 PM EST Friday, August 22nd at 8 PM EST Sunday, August 31st at 5:45 PM EST Monday, August 25th at 10 PM EST & Saturday, August 30th at 5 PM EST (the start of college football season) On top of that there will be an autopick league for members who can't make a live draft. If I feel there are enough to fill a second autopick league, I will create a league as such. The late drafts during the week will give preference to those out west and if need be the weekend ones may as well. I did my best to make the draft times a lot better for West Coasters this time around. If you have not already done so, please reply to the thread on this topic or to this email with your preferred draft times, in order. Make sure you include any times you cannot attend and I will do my best to keep you away from those leagues. Please be aware that you may not get your top time as I have to fit around 90-100 people in these slots. The sooner you get your preferences in, the more likely you are to not be stuck in a bad time for you. Please get your preferences in in the next week as I will start putting the leagues together at the end of this week with the emails about league IDs and passwords next weekend. I will not be posting any league IDs or passwords in an effort to prevent any problems arising from members joining the wrong league. You will be able to switch leagues with another member in the future should you need to- via the message board. The ASFL2 rules for Fantasy Football can be found here. I will more than likely end up recruiting more members for Fantasy Football to fill any holes that arise, but if I need to give out extra teams to members they will be dispensed based on bonus points. I'm also announcing the ASFL2 Champions League which will take place for the first time in the 2009-2010 season with qualification based on the results of this season. The Champions League will see the top performers from this season faceoff against one another in their own fantasy leagues next year. As of now all conference winners are guaranteed a spot in the competition for next year with the rest of the qualification process to be determined later. The qualifiers will face off against one another in special leagues or groups on top of also being in the normal ASFL2 leagues and groups. I also intend to have a similar competition with qualification based on those just below the Champions League and a third competition with qualification based on activity. To chime in with your thoughts on the idea or your ideas for qualification, please respond to the thread on the subject in the league office section. The Champions League will be created in the hopes of having an elite competition within the league at large to determine who is the best against the best (to try to avoid the cliche) instead of the best against ~120 others at large. If you're reading this on the website because you didn't get the email, please make sure emails from commish@theasfl.com is set to not go to your junk/bulk mail. |
