The first ASFL2 season is in the books after 528 days of competition (January 3rd, 2008 to June 14th, 2009). You can view the official 2008-2009 season results at this link, you'll notice the change in look to the page, more on that later. The top three in the final standings as well as all conference winners have earned a trophy to mark the achievement. The conference winner trophies will be about 6" plastic cup-style trophies that I can get for fairly cheap. I'm still debating which trophies to award to first, second and third. I've set up a thread on the message board for feedback on potential trophy styles. There are 26 trophies to choose from with some guidelines that can be read in the first post of the thread. All are invited to comment. I likely won't make a final decision until early or mid July as things could be complicated by my moving on July 12th. If you have any experience in ordering or purchasing trophies or have any kind of connection to a trophy shop, please let me know. If you won your conference or finished in the top three, please email me your physical address to send the trophy to. The final piece of business for the 2008-2009 season is the review survey. I'd like each member to fill out the survey so that I can get feedback to use to try to improve the league. The survey contains questions about your thoughts on events from the past year as well as questions about your thoughts on potential league decisions in the future. The participation of everyone is important for the improvement of the league. I'll be giving out up to 5 bonus points to those who fill it out, the more detail you give the more points you earn. |
Today is the 163rd day of the 2009-2010 ASFL2 season with Charles Wishon and Jeff Johnson tied for the lead on 43 points. The first piece of business with the end of the 2008-2009 season is the new New Member Introduction Thread. All who re-introduce themselves in the same format as the first post of the thread will earn a bonus point. The next and most important piece of business is the new website layout. The new format should make navigation of the website easier and more intuitive. The navigation bar is under the league banner on every page of the website with links to the various sections of the website as well as their main pages once hovered over. All pages aside from the front page feature a "breadcrumbs" link list which displays the pages you went through to get to where you are on the website as well as links to those pages. The league rules are now far better organized and updated with the end of the first season. I've also added an official bonus points rules page which should erase any confusion. The rules pages may not contain the ASFL2 championship point scoring totals for this year's version of each fantasy game as I plan to give them a thorough look through based on how last year worked out. I've taken a class this summer to learn an advanced internet language which has allowed me to create more in-depth standings pages. Each sport should have a career standings page when all is said and done, but until I finish up a few other things only the golf career standings page exists as a teaser, you'll be able to sort them by more than just game score in the future as well. Career standings pages will automatically update each week with the new game standings. I've also created different standings pages for the 2008-2009 season which can be viewed here. Other types of pages will also be added to the history section of the website once I have the time. My new knowledge has also allowed me to create a more dynamic members list that will allow you to view members by conference, date joined, state and/or years active. It's currently in continued development. I'm currently working on an application to be able to run the slow drafts for the Keeper Leagues on the league website that would essentially do all the things I did for the baseball drafts. Without it the keeper leagues may not be possible in the long run. Once I'm done with it I'll go back to finishing the other projects I've started and then move on to potentially making the official and unofficial games that are currently run on the league message board, be run through the league website. The last new website addition is ASFL2 Twitter. I don't personally use twitter and don't intend to, but I will be posting when standings pages are updated along with updates on other league news. You can also view updates from it in the league news section of the front page of the website. |
Now that the new website has been run through, it's back to regular ASFL2 season business. Yahoo! has opened Fantasy Football and these are the available draft times: Thursday, August 27th at 8:30 PM EST Saturday, August 29th at 6:45 PM EST Sunday, August 30th at 7:30 PM EST Monday, August 31st at 11:15 PM EST Tuesday, September 1st at 9 PM EST Wednesday, September 2nd at 8:45 PM EST Thursday, September 3rd at 10:45 PM EST Friday, September 4th at 8 PM EST Sunday, September 6th at 5 PM EST & an autopick. Please let me know your draft time preference via this thread or email as soon as possible, I will determine league designations toward the end of the month. I've also determined ASFL2 Keeper Leagues football designations. There may be a few openings for those who are interested. You can view all Keeper Leagues information via the new section of the website. With the end of the 2008-2009 season, the start of the first ASASFL season will begin. ASASFL is the new umbrella name for the ASFL2 Champions League, ASFL2 Super League and ASFL2 Third League and stands for All-Star ASFL. The top members from the 2008-2009 season have qualified to participate in ASASFL with the qualification methods explained in the new ASASFL section of the website. I will be emailing league IDs and passwords to those who qualified for the ASASFL leagues and those who are a part of the Keeper Leagues in football by the end of the weekend. |
