With the first round of the NHL Playoffs in the books it's time for a small 2010-2011 Championship update.

Anders Nilsson still holds the overall lead and gained an extra point over Mike Miles with the top score this week win Fantasy Premier League. His league now stands at four points. However, projecting just through the end of the Fantasy Premier League season, Mike Miles stands to gain three points back based on the game standings (14 points for third compared to 11 for eighth) and three more points based on the week win standings. That would project Miles to have a two point lead in the championship through the end of Fantasy Premier League.

Their points difference after NHL Playoffs Pickem is far more difficult to project after the first round. Miles' bracket earned one more point than Nilsson's bracket after both had six series winners right.

Nilsson's bracket is in better shape going forward, however, as he has all four of his conference finalists alive while Miles only has three of four left. Both have Vancouver beating Washington for the Stanley Cup with the only difference in the final two rounds being their series length in the Western Conference Finals (seven games for Miles, six for Nilsson). If Boston wins in the next round, Nilsson is guaranteed to finish with more game points than Miles. Miles could still move to within one point of Nilsson in the final game standings if series lengths worked out in his favor, but either way the championship point difference will be dependent on how many other members work their way in between the two.

In NHL Standings Pickem, Miles earned two more points than Nilsson in the first round, but remains six points behind in the standings. Those six points translate into three places in the game standings and one championship point in Nilsson's favor. Looking forward, both have the Capitals winning the Stanley Cup, but Nilsson has Detroit winning the west while Miles has Vancouver winning the west. If Vancouver wins the west and Detroit loses in the second round, Miles will finish one point behind Nilsson in the standings. If Detroit wins the west and Vancouver loses in the second round, Nilsson would finish 11 points ahead of Miles. Either way, the amount of points gained or lost will depend on the results of those around them in the standings.

We'll know even more about the race once the NBA's first round ends this weekend.
