NHL Playoffs Pickem Available
9:40 PM ET on 4/13/14 by Jay Soester
NHL Playoffs Pickem is now available on the league message board. Due to the NHL playoff structure change, I was unable to get it on the website in time.

Each division got three teams in automatically with the two best records from each conference outside of the top three from each division getting in as wildcards to play the top seeds in the divisions. The second round sees the pairings stay within the division before the conference final and Stanley Cup Finals. There's no more reseeding.

Click here to view the playoff bracket.

To participate, please reply to the game thread with your picks in the format of the template in the first post of the thread.

The deadline for entries is 6:57 PM ET on Wednesday (4/16).

NHL Playoffs Pickem will also be run through the league message board. Follow the template in the first post of the thread. The deadline for entries is 8 PM ET tonight. I apologize for the delay in the announcement.

Don't forget that the second round sees the advancing teams reseeded to where the highest remaining seed plays the lowest remaining seed in each conference.

Overall Playoffs Pickem Results
3:47 PM ET on 6/24/12 by Jay Soester
Jeffery Murowsky won Overall Playoffs Pickem with 82 points combined from MLB, NBA, NFL & NHL Playoffs Pickem, two more than Greg Krause with Tom Vobejda, Nathan Susanto & Matthew Hardman rounding out the top five. Murowsky earns the five championship points that go along with the honor while the other 20 members to finish in the top quarter of all 84 to participate in at least one playoffs pickem game also earned championship points for their finish.

The 2011-2012 championship standings are now updated with the results. Greg Krause's move from 16th to 15th was the highest change in ranks on the standings. John Wright jumped into the top 25 as well. Only Overall Standings Pickem remains before bonus points.

NHL Playoffs Pickem Results
12:33 PM ET on 6/12/12 by Jay Soester
Congrats to Matthew Hardman for winning NHL Playoffs Pickem with 28 points as the only member to correctly predict either of the Stanley Cup finalists with the Predators beating the Devils on his entry. Only Aaron Freeman even had the Cup winning Kings advancing out of the first round as he finished sixth. David Cords finished in second place, 11 points behind. Dave Berrong and Kevin Whorton tied for third at 16 points with Patrick Cooley in fifth also on 16 points, but behind via tiebreaker.

The 2011-2012 championship standings are now updated with the results. The results allowed Anders Nilsson to move back into third ahead of Nathan Susanto; Aaron Freeman to jump ahead of Matt Humpal into seventh; Jeffery Murowsky to leapfrog Tyson Hester into 13th and Greg Krause to surpass Brian Secord into 18th. There are still five game results to be factored in before bonus points. I hope to have NHL Standings Pickem results updated this evening, but it may take me into tomorrow to iron everything out.

What are you watching?
10:48 AM ET on 6/1/12 by Jay Soester
I put up a variant of this poll every season it seems. I wanted to put this up yesterday after the pair of OT games in each series of the night, but a busy day pushed it back.

Which Series Are You Watching?

  • Stanley Cup
  • NBA Conference Finals
  • Both
  • Neither

Reply to the poll thread with your answer's explanation. I'm curious to see if the answer changes by region of the country (or internationally).

NHL Playoffs Pickem Available
1:18 AM ET on 4/10/12 by Jay Soester
NHL Playoffs Pickem is now available. It is the penultimate game of the 2011-2012 season to begin.

If you signed up for ASFL2 after December 31st, 2011, you can participate, but you won't earn championship points as you aren't eligible for the 2011-2012 season.

The deadline for entries is 7:27 PM ET on Wednesday.

NHL Standings Pickem has been updated to reflect the scores through the end of the regular season. Matt Humpal leads Dave Berrong by a single point at 127 points heading into the postseason.

With the NHL Playoffs approaching, I'm putting an NHL Playoffs Assignment out there where I need some help to research for a potential NHL Playoffs fantasy game. I need volunteers to help me draft a league (or leagues) of six teams from the 16 teams in the first round of the NHL playoffs. I'm hoping to use the ASFL2 Chat Rooms to recreate a live draft, but am also taking lists for those unavailable the next few evenings. Anyone to help me with any draft will receive at least three bonus points. Read the first post of the assignment thread for more information. I'm hoping to repeat the process for each round of the playoffs and for the NBA playoffs as well.

2010-2011 NHL Playoffs Pickem Results
1:51 AM ET on 6/16/11 by Jay Soester
Seven members picked the Bruins to make the Stanley Cup Finals, but only Corey Beaudoin picked them to win, leading to his victory in NHL Standings Pickem.

The eight points he earned from picking the Bruins to win propelled Beaudoin to the victory on 46 points from fourth place before the Finals. Mark Yothers (40), Brad Wilson (40), Jay Soester (39) and Brian Secord (37) rounded out the top five with all four among the 17 members that picked the Canucks to win, had the Canucks won at home in game seven, Brad Wilson would have won the game.

Anders Nilsson finished 16th on 27 points, a single spot ahead of Mike Miles on 25 points. Their placement meant each earned two championship points to bring the championship standings to 657-643. With just five points remaining and both above the bonus points threshold, these results officially clinch the 2010-2011 ASFL2 Championship for Mike Miles.

Championship Update
9:27 PM ET on 4/28/11 by Jay Soester
With the first round of the NHL Playoffs in the books it's time for a small 2010-2011 Championship update.

Anders Nilsson still holds the overall lead and gained an extra point over Mike Miles with the top score this week win Fantasy Premier League. His league now stands at four points. However, projecting just through the end of the Fantasy Premier League season, Mike Miles stands to gain three points back based on the game standings (14 points for third compared to 11 for eighth) and three more points based on the week win standings. That would project Miles to have a two point lead in the championship through the end of Fantasy Premier League.

NHL Playoffs Pickem is the next to last game to begin for the 2010-2011 season (NBA Playoffs Pickem is the final game to begin). It's shaping up to be important in the race for the championship between Mike Miles and Anders Nilsson as the difference between them is likely to be in the single digits after Fantasy Hockey and Fantasy Basketball have concluded.

If you signed up for ASFL2 after December 31st, 2010, you are eligible to participate, but you won't earn championship points as you aren't eligible for the 2010-2011 season.
