The 2013-2014 is less than a month away. The first game of the league's sixth season is now available for sign ups. Please join our group as soon as possible, if you get an error stating that the group is full, email me for the new ID and password. There are usually at least three groups. The season begins on Thursday, January 4th with the Hyundai Tournament of Champions in Hawaii.

In other news, with the NHL cancelling games through December 30th, Fantasy Hockey is one more cancelled game week away from being cancelled itself. Currently, week 12 would be the first week of the regular season with week 22 being the final week of the regular season. Week 12 is the latest a 12 team league could start and see every team play every other team in its league. I'll be monitoring the situation as best I can.

As I sit here watching the Flames visit the Blues (I can't say I know why I am), I realize it's time for another public service announcement. The NHL Center Ice package has a free preview through Sunday, October 23rd for those with the capability to access it. That's two plus weeks worth of free games (dating back to last Thursday's openers). It might help me pass the time on Tuesday and Wednesday with the football void, hopefully it's of some use to one of you out there.

| The Finals Are Set |

The Eastern Conference Finals wrapped up on consecutive days last week. The NBA's version finished Thursday night with the Heat beating the Bulls in game 5. The NHL's version finished Friday night with the Bruins defeating the Lightning in game 7. Both series concluded after their respective Western counterparts to set up each league's Championship series.
With the NBA's conference finals wrapping up before the NHL's, that increased the likelihood for a rare occurance- the NBA Finals concluding before the Stanley Cup is won.
