Unfortunately it doesn't look like I'm going to be able to set up the website for NBA Playoffs Pickem in time.

As a result, the game will be moved back its roots on the league message board.

You can submit your entry in the game thread.

Overall Playoffs Pickem Results
3:47 PM ET on 6/24/12 by Jay Soester
Jeffery Murowsky won Overall Playoffs Pickem with 82 points combined from MLB, NBA, NFL & NHL Playoffs Pickem, two more than Greg Krause with Tom Vobejda, Nathan Susanto & Matthew Hardman rounding out the top five. Murowsky earns the five championship points that go along with the honor while the other 20 members to finish in the top quarter of all 84 to participate in at least one playoffs pickem game also earned championship points for their finish.

The 2011-2012 championship standings are now updated with the results. Greg Krause's move from 16th to 15th was the highest change in ranks on the standings. John Wright jumped into the top 25 as well. Only Overall Standings Pickem remains before bonus points.

NBA Playoffs Pickem Results
6:44 PM ET on 6/23/12 by Jay Soester
Jeffery Murowsky is the winner for the final stand-alone game of the season as he topped NBA Playoffs Pickem at 50 points. He earned the winner distinction via tiebreaker over Tim Schneider thanks to having earned more points from the conference championship round. Greg Krause, Tom Buske, Steve Coumbis and Skip Wilson finished behind the duo all on 49 points. Fourteen members had the Heat winning the championship for the extra 0.5 championship points that go with a correct champion prediction. Murowsky, Schneider, Krause & Tom Vobejda tied for the most correct series picks at 13 for the extra 0.5 championship points while Buske, Coumbis, Skip Wilson, John Wright, Kevin Whorton, Dave Berrong, Gianfranco Lintas, Joby Hapgood & Mike Brekke tied for the most correct series length picks with five to also earn an extra 0.5 championship points.

The 2011-2012 championship standings are now updated to reflect the results. All that remains now is the overall results for Standings Pickem & Playoffs Pickem before bonus points are factored in. Jeffery Murowsky's jump from 14th to 13th was the first change in rank after the results were factored in.

What are you watching?
10:48 AM ET on 6/1/12 by Jay Soester
I put up a variant of this poll every season it seems. I wanted to put this up yesterday after the pair of OT games in each series of the night, but a busy day pushed it back.

Which Series Are You Watching?

  • Stanley Cup
  • NBA Conference Finals
  • Both
  • Neither

Reply to the poll thread with your answer's explanation. I'm curious to see if the answer changes by region of the country (or internationally).

League Poll - NBA Lockout
11:59 PM ET on 11/3/11 by Jay Soester
With a full month of the season already cancelled and the prospects for a season changing by the day, I'm curious as to what ASFL2 members think of the NBA Lockout and its impact on your fan-hood and fantasy sports participation. Reply to this thread on the message board if the lockout has changed your opinion of the NBA.

You can pick between the choices below, here.
  • I don't care about the NBA.
  • I don't care about the NBA, but I miss Fantasy Basketball.
  • I can do without the NBA until Christmas.
  • I'm fine with missing some games, so long as there's a Fantasy Basketball season.
  • I can do without the NBA until the NFL season is over.
  • Just give me the playoffs.
  • The whole situation pisses me off.
  • Just bring it back ASAP.

If you missed my piece on what the lockout means for ASFL2 competitions, you can read it here.

NBA Playoffs Pickem Results
11:54 PM ET on 6/12/11 by Jay Soester
This was just the third time since the NBA expanded its postseason format to eight teams from each conference in the 1983-84 season that the NBA postseason finished before the NHL postseason, excluding strike-infuenced seasons. If the Canucks win game six on Monday, the ending dates of the two postseasons will match those of 2002, the last time the NBA finished first.

With that bit of trivia out of the way, I can congratulate Skip Wilson for winning the 2010-2011 edition of NBA Playoffs Pickem with 43 points. He finished three points ahead of Kraig Monkman, who was the only member to correctly pick the Mavericks to win the championship. Mike Brekke (35), Tim Schneider (35) and Javier Martinez (33) rounded out the top five.

Mike Miles finished in 15th place for three championship points to gain three more points on Anders Nilsson after he finished in 32nd place. Miles now holds a 640-628 advantage with NHL Playoffs Pickem, NHL Standings Pickem and overall Standings Pickem & overall Playoffs Pickem remaining.

NBA Playoffs Pickem Available
3:45 AM ET on 4/14/11 by Jay Soester
The final game of the 2010-2011 season is now available. The deadline for entries in NBA Playoffs Pickem is Saturday at 12:57 PM ET.

Just like with NHL Playoffs Pickem, if you signed up for ASFL2 after December 31st, 2010, you are eligible to participate, but you won't earn championship points as you aren't eligible for the 2010-2011 season.

As things stand, Anders Nilsson leads Mike Miles for the championship by 26 points. Miles stands to make up 19 to 23 points through Fantasy Basketball when scores are processed on Thursday. Miles is also in line to gain five points on Nilsson in Fantasy Premier League based on the current standings with another two points based on his week win total and another point for his second half total. Based on those projections, Miles stands to be ahead by as many as five points or as few as one point after the next two games are complete.

After those two games, points from six games remain which would all involve the NHL & NBA Playoffs. Nilsson currently stands to make three points back from NHL Standings Pickem, but Miles would make those three points up and add three more as things currently stand in NBA Standings Pickem. That would give Miles a four to eight point lead with up to 40 points remaining. Even if you're out of the running for a meaningful place, the final few months should be entertaining to watch unfold.
