2011-2012 Keeper Leagues Championship
11:00 PM ET on 9/6/12 by Jay Soester
The results for Fantasy Basketball bring an end to the 2011-2012 Keeper Leagues Championship. I apologize for the delay, there was a problem getting the roto data for the Third Division and I spent some time trying to pull a rabbit out of a hat before ultimately having to give up. Unfortunately, the fix was each Third Division member earning 17 points as their roto total.

Anders Nilsson is this season's winner at 888 points, 11 more than Brad Wilson in second place. Jay Soester finished third with 794 points with David Synychak (770) and Matt Humpal (761) rounding out the top five. Wilson managed to finish second overall despite being a part of the Second Division in Fantasy Football this season; Humpal cracked the top five with the same distinction. Nilsson's total was 31 points lower than Mike Miles' winning mark last season.

Nilsson finished within the top four in points for each game, with two wins, to earn the championship, but he finished second (.953) to Brad Wilson (.993) for the best ratio of anyone in all four games. Wilson was tops in two games and second in his division for the other two. Chad Gumm was third in ratio at .934; he finished seventh overall despite being in the Second Division of three games. Robert Flatt also cracked the top ten despite being in three Second Divisions. Tyson Hester was the best overall finisher of those in at least one Third Division at 13th despite being in two.

I've begun work setting up the Keeper Leagues Fantasy Basketball drafts and bid system. Watch the website for more information.

Keeper Leagues Fantasy Football Drafts & Bids
9:21 PM ET on 5/5/12 by Jay Soester
The 2012-2013 Keeper Leagues Fantasy Football drafts are now available. You can begin to submit your players to be kept for next season or submit a bid to get yourself a team. The bid system won't be completely sorted out until all promoted and relegated members pick their new teams, you can't currently bid for a team that's marked as "promotionchoice#" or "relegationchoice#" for that reason.

Last season's results are also available.

The deadline to select your new team if you were promoted or relegated last season is this Wednesday, May 9th at 11:59 PM ET. Visit the standings from last season to know where you are in the picking order; if you aren't first, submit your preferences in order.

The deadline to submit your players for next season is July 21st at 11:59 PM ET.

I anticipate the drafts starting in mid-August.

I'm working on the standings for Fantasy Hockey & Fantasy Basketball with the Basketball Rosters Assignment also available.

Fantasy Basketball Drafts Complete
3:24 AM ET on 12/25/11 by Jay Soester
The results for all three Keeper Leagues Fantasy Basketball drafts and all three ASASFL Fantasy Basketball drafts have been entered into Yahoo!. With most of them finishing up near Christmas, I've elected to gift everyone an updated lineup based on draft order. Unlike with autopick and live drafts, offline draft results aren't turned into pre-set lineups by Yahoo!.

Hopefully everyone stays safe for the holiday.

Keeper Leagues Player Deadline Reminder
9:19 AM ET on 12/9/11 by Jay Soester
Don't forget the deadline to select your players, and make pre-draft trades, for the coming Keeper Leagues Fantasy Basketball season is 11:59 PM ET on Saturday. You can keep up to five players (four if you were relegated) with a limit of two per position plus a utility spot. If you have any problems, or don't plan to keep anyone, please let me know as soon as possible. If you don't submit any players for the coming season and I don't hear from you I may have to replace you.

I've begun going through the bids submitted and have awarded Mike Miles' team in the Premier Division to David Cords. I hope to get through the rest of the teams before the deadline. If you're interested in a team, please submit a bid as soon as possible.

Draft Start Times:
Premier Division: Saturday, December 17th at 12 AM ET
Second Division: Wednesday, December 14th at 8 PM ET
Third Division: Saturday, December 17th at 12 AM ET

ASASFL Fantasy Basketball Info Sent
11:50 PM ET on 11/28/11 by Jay Soester
The draft pages are now available with league IDs and passwords also emailed. If you need the ID resent, please email me.

The Champions League's draft order is determined by a draft of its own with the order in which you can select your pick being based on the championship standings from the 2010-2011 season. I need every member who doesn't want the best spot available to them to give me the draft picks they'd like before Wednesday, ET.

Tentative Start Dates: Champions League: Thursday, December 8th at 10 PM ET.
Super League: Saturday, December 10th at 12 AM ET.
Third League: Tuesday, December 6th at 8 PM ET.

Please note that the draft start times are different based on my new personal schedule. If a draft starts at midnight, you'll need to be ready the night prior to the date listed. You should be able to perform all draft tasks aside from picking and those associated with the default list (until the Fantasy Basketball Drafts Assignment is completed). Admittedly, I'm too busy to test the actual picking mechanisms to verify there were no hiccups in adjusting files for the new season. Unfortunately, the Third League may become a de facto test as a result.

The last I've seen had free agency starting on December 9th, unfortunately that's just over two weeks before the season begins and I always reserve at least two weeks for drafts. With basketball having the shortest drafts, I'm making some exception, but that will have to lean toward the Keeper League drafts. I reserve the right to alter time limits as the draft progress to ensure it finishes on time.

I hope to send the information and sort out a time frame for the Keeper Leagues within the next two hours or Tuesday evening/night. If you're interested in a Keeper Leagues Fantasy Basketball team, place a bid as soon as possible, teams are likely to be given out by this coming weekend. I anticipate somewhere around five teams being available.

League Poll - NBA Lockout
11:59 PM ET on 11/3/11 by Jay Soester
With a full month of the season already cancelled and the prospects for a season changing by the day, I'm curious as to what ASFL2 members think of the NBA Lockout and its impact on your fan-hood and fantasy sports participation. Reply to this thread on the message board if the lockout has changed your opinion of the NBA.

You can pick between the choices below, here.
  • I don't care about the NBA.
  • I don't care about the NBA, but I miss Fantasy Basketball.
  • I can do without the NBA until Christmas.
  • I'm fine with missing some games, so long as there's a Fantasy Basketball season.
  • I can do without the NBA until the NFL season is over.
  • Just give me the playoffs.
  • The whole situation pisses me off.
  • Just bring it back ASAP.

If you missed my piece on what the lockout means for ASFL2 competitions, you can read it here.

What the NBA Lockout Means for ASFL2
5:40 PM ET on 10/14/11 by Jay Soester
Well, we've lost two weeks of the NBA season and consequently two weeks of the 21 week Fantasy Basketball regular season.

You know something's up when it gets the Taiwanese animation treatment.

Keeper Leagues Bid System
9:58 PM ET on 7/4/11 by Jay Soester
The new Keeper Leagues Bid System is now available.

The new system is designed to allow for me to easily see member qualifications when determining who to give out available Keeper Leagues teams while also allowing those applying to see what they're up against and what's available. If you already have a team, you aren't obliged to submit a bid to keep the team; so long as you submit your players for the coming season, you'll still have it. Those already participating can use the system to bid for a team in a higher division, however.

The introductory page explains what criteria are used to give out teams.

The bid page automatically gathers the relevant information for all current ASFL2 members then allows the bidder to denote a preference for all teams by division. The roster for each team can be see via link from the team name or up to four can be see on the bid page. A bidder can also choose to denote his preference to be placed in each division beneath the team section.

The final piece of the system is the bids list page. The page features a list of bids received which includes a breakdown of the number of bids for a team in each division, the latest update of each bid and the number of bid updates. The page also features a breakdown of the likely availablity of each team and the number of times it has been bid for specifically.

This message board thread is available to ask any questions you may have about the system.
