| The league's sixth season got underway on Friday making us past due for a newsletter. | In every newsletter I can remember reading; I led off with the games available. Not this time. In homage to the first few seasons of the league, I've put together a league survey before the coming season. I can't understate its importance in shaping the league going forward. The key issue is the potential for membership in the league to be forever changed with a levels system resulting in different abilities at different prices (which would finally allow me to invest in a professional developer, instead of just me; and ensure that yearly trophies can be purchased). The two pieces from the survey that are nearly as important at the section about game development and adding aspects to the website (both have a light blue header). Everything in the survey is designed to help me improve the league and better serve the membership base. Please take the time to fill it out. I'll be giving up to ten bonus points for those who do fill it out. Those bonus points could be worth a discount on membership in the 2014-2015 season. |
There are currently six games available, two through Yahoo! and four on the website with two of the six being unofficial games. To participate in any of our games on the website, click the "Sign Up" link on the game page then use the "Submit Your Picks" link to enter your predictions. Fantasy Golf kicks off the 2013-2014 ASFL2 season on Saturday with the first deadline of the season having been pushed back to 12:30 PM ET. The game is run through Yahoo! and the ID is 830 with a password of 123456. NFL Playoffs Pickem also has a Saturday deadline, at 4:27 PM ET for entries. I've added a game score pick element to NFL Playoffs Pickem this season, you can change your score predictions up to the game start time by going to the Review Your Picks link. The points system for the game will be changed due to the added element. Now, correct Wild Card Round picks will be worth 30 points, Divisional Round picks worth 60, Conference Championship picks, 90 and Super Bowl picks, 120. Fantasy NFL Playoffs also begins Saturday afternoon with the deadline to submit your lineups for the Wild Card Round at 4:27 PM ET as well. You'll need to pick a player only once through the course of the game, with a new lineup for each round. The last official game available isn't technically available. Fantasy Hockey is nearing the make-or-break point. Based on all the reports, January 11th is the deadline for a deal to be in place (or close to it) for a 48-game season to begin on January 19th. I've updated the draft times thread with new tentative dates and times based on that information. I haven't had the chance to update the actual leagues in Yahoo! yet, however, to verify those times as available. All leagues will only be run if every team plays every other team. That could easily result in all 12-team leagues, there not being playoffs for each league or there not being any leagues in general. The Keeper Leagues are almost definitely out of the question for this season. Premier League Pickem is the only game on this list currently running. It kicked off in August and will continue until May as one of our bigger unofficial games. Fantasy Tennis returns on the league message board for its third season thanks to Brad Wilson. The season kicks off January 13th (ET) with the Australian Open. It's also an unofficial game. For more information about when games become available, check out the league timeline with the breakdown for all games on the official game list. Information on unofficial games is announced as it becomes known, but the list of recurring unofficial games is available on the Fantasy Games section's navigation bar. Fantasy NASCAR and Fantasy Baseball should become available within the next 2-4 weeks. I've also opened sign-ups for our randomized Super Bowl Pools. You can purchase as many $1 or $5 squares as you'd like. I hope to set up the odds-based pool by the end of the weekend. |
I'm still working to finalize the results of far more games than I'd like. The events of the last six months of 2012, leading up to my aunt's passing in mid-December have put me way behind. I'm working to catch up, but I've had to sort out a new place to live (my lease runs out in under two weeks) and a new job (my paychecks have been delayed since October and the last 3.5 haven't been paid in full). I hope to be able to update the outsanding NFL-based games early this week around setting up the Fantasy Golf standings and finishing up NFL Playoffs Pickem. In the meantime, please reply to the Help Needed thread on the message board if you're interested in keeping the Fantasy Golf and/or Fantasy NASCAR standings updated through their respective seasons or help me sort out the bonus points awarded for past unofficial games. The Football Standings Assignment is nearly completed, but if you'd like to see another common means of earning bonus points, give it a look. If you're still not interested in bonus points, remember that bonus points earned for the 2013-2014 season could be worth a discount on your membership for the 2014-2015 season, as explained on the the new league survey. |
I've finally fully automated the newsletter process to where they are now sent automatically through the website instead of my email account and they are not sent to members that are deemed retired, inactive, or banned. If you want to be removed from the newsletter's email list, you need to update your Member Profile, including your status and which games you do or do not want to participate in. I hope to have the option for active members to no longer receive the newsletter emails in the future. I've also added a "Forgot Password" button to the edit member profile page. |
