ASFL2 College Bowl Pickem Explanation & Scoring


Explanation

ASFL2 College Bowl Pickem is run through the league message board. After the college bowl game matchups are announced a thread will be created where members can enter the competition by giving their predictions. A score for the competition will be determined based on correct picks (with 5 toughest picks and 5 most confident picks factored in) and correct conference ranking (in terms of win-loss records for each conference). When you submit your picks you denote your 5 toughest picks- the picks you've had the hardest time making because you think the game will be very close. You also denote your 5 easiest picks- the picks where you're dead sure the team you choose is going to win. The Yahoo! version of the game was announced about a month after the creation of the league and website and forces its participants to use confidence points, which the ASFL2 is currently against.

Correct Pick: 4 Points
A 5 Toughest Pick Ending As One of the Five Closest Games^: 2 Points
A 5 Easiest Pick Ending As One of the Five Biggest Blowouts#: 2 Points
Correct Conference Placement**: 1 Point
Correct Top Conference**: 1 Point
Correct Conference Record: 1 Point

^In determining the 5 closest games, the farther into OT a game goes the closer it is judged to have been. If a game goes 4 OT, but finishes with a team winning by 8, it is judged to be ahead of a game that finishes with a team winning by 1 in regulation. If two teams finish in the same number of overtimes, the winning margin is used as a tiebreaker. You aren't required to pick the game correctly to earn the points.

**You must have ordered your conferences by record and have their wins add up to the correct number of bowl games. A conference is only factored in to the standings if it has at least three teams playing in bowl games.
*Tiebreakers will work as follows:
(1) Most Points from Correct Picks
(2) Most Points from Conference placements
(3) Highest Correctly Placed Conference
(4) Most Correct Picks in Bowl Games on January 2nd or later
(5) Most Bonus Points
