NFL Pickem was the first official game to be transitioned from being run through Yahoo! to being run on the league website on July 24th, 2011. The games' move to the website also allows the league to provide detailed NFL Standings and team stats information. With the transition came a new set of rules. Prior to the 2011-2012 ASFL2 season, NFL Pickem involved simply picking each game's winner. From 2011-2012 onward, the game score will be picked. This format was chosen based on requests to change the simple pick format to a spread-based or confidence-based format. The commissioner felt the new format was the best method to assess a member's skills in predicting the outcome of an NFL game while staying as true to football as possible. Not all was left with Yahoo!, however, as week wins are still handed out. |

In order to participate in the game, you need to click the "Sign Up" link on the game page. From there, enter your information as you submitted it to the members database (if applicable). Once registered, use the "Submit Your Picks" page to enter your picks for the week. You can also click the linked "at" on the game's front page to submit your predicted score an individual game, or the "Pick" links on the NFL schedule page or the team schedules page. When submitting your prediction, make sure to enter a number for both teams. A blank field will be rejected by the system. If you submit a pick for a game with both teams scoring the same amount, you'll only be awarded 30 points if the outcome of the game is a tie. If you don't submit a score for a game, you will be noted as having made an incorrect pick and will receive 0 points for it. From there, you can check your progress by using the "Game Standings" page. The overall game standings, monthly game standings, and weekly game standings are all available. As are the championship point standings and the projected championship points earned from the game. To help you make your picks, the game provides, detailed NFL Standings, a grid displaying the results and schedule for all games in the season, and a stats section which features the average scores and pick percentages for each game along with other information on team scoring breakdowns and member points breakdowns. Non-ASFL2 Members are allowed to participate in the game, but are not counted for championship points purposes. They're listed on the standings pages by default (aside from those involving championship points), but can be removed by clicking the "Member?" or "M?" heading. |
Each game's pick is due by the scheduled start time as listed within the game. If you notice what you feel is an incorrect time, please email the commissioner as soon as possible. The commissioner may ask for a member or two to help keep the game updated. Those who assist will be given bonus points as a reward. The game concludes with week 17 of the NFL regular season; the playoffs are not factored in. There are no more dropped weeks. The game's new format and location allows you to easily make your picks in advance of any game while the new scoring format should help soften the blow of an outlier, subpar pick week. Those two factors eliminate the reason for the use of a drop week. A perfect game is worth 60 points, the next highest total possible is 55 points and the highest total possible while not correctly picking the outcome of the game is 25 points.
