Tidbits

• John Duffill had the high score in league 1 at 122 points. His last two scores for the season had combined to equal just 116 points.
• Aaron Burton scored 69 points for the second straight week in league 1. He was the low man in the league and the loss puts his playoff hopes on life support.
• Matthew Hardman put up 74 points this week in a league 1 defeat to fall to 4-7 and on the verge of playoff elimination. He has scored 100+ points four times this season while scoring 76 points or less the other seven times. Aaron Rodgers (25) & Wes Welker (19) combined for 59.5% of his total for the week.
• Andrew Maher was Hardman's benefactor in league 1 to finally get over the hump and win his first game of the season amidst horrible luck. He was tied for seventh in points for the week in the fourteen team league, but was finally fortunate in facing the fourth lowest scoring team for the week.
• Dan Gettle scored 80 or more points six of the first seven weeks of the season in league 2. He's failed to top 74 points in the last four weeks.
• Eric Franckowiak scored 92 points this week in league 2 after scoring just 40 points last week.
• Sidney Rice (20) & Ricky Williams (26) combined for just under half (48.9%) of Forest Thomas' total for the week (94) in league 2. That would have been hard to believe at the start of the season.
• Barry Barnett scored 83 points a week after scoring 35 in league 3. He had totalled 88 points in the previous two weeks and is now 1-10 on the season.
• Bill Horton has scored each value between 71 and 73 in the last three weeks of league 3 play. He's 4-7 on the season.
• John Wright only saw three of his players score in double digits despite putting up 99 points in a victory over league 3's top member in Mike Miles. Matt Schaub (24), Calvin Johnson (22) & San Diego's D (18) combined for 64.6% of his total for the week. His 99 points this week means he's narrowly still allowed to say he's over .500 this season (6-5) despite never scoring in triple digits.
• Jeff Brick scored 108 points in a league 3 win to move to 4-7 on the season. It was his first time scoring over 100 points this season.
• Two members in league 4 lost by 20+ points despite scoring 96 points or more. The lower scoring of the pair managed to lose by 40 points.
• Matt Schaub (24- Brooke) and Brett Favre (32- Schneider) combined to produce 36.6% of the points in Tim Schneider (87) & Dave Brooke's (66) contest in league 4. Schneider saw four other players get into double digits while Brooke only saw two other players do so.
• Will Moore was seven points away from having a lineup entirely in double digits in league 4. Randy Moss finished with nine points and Jason Witten managed just four. He finished with 122 points in a win to move to 9-2 on the season.
• Andrew Senger scored 79 points this week in a nine point loss to fail to eclipse 100 points for the eleventh time this season. He's escaped a score between 76 points and 94 points just once this season.
• Excluding a nine point victory, the margins of victory in league 4 were 21, 24, 51, 40 & 20 for an average of 31.2 points.
• Will Moore & Dale Frederick are 9-2 at the top of league 4. Between them, they've scored under 79 points just once on the season. They've combined to score in triple digits ten times.
• Matthew Reber scored over 90 points for just the second time this season in league 4, but failed to win his first game of the season thanks to having to face Dale Frederick and his 136 point week.
• Tyson Hester & Anthony Lombardo had the two low scores this week in league 5. They wound up facing each other thanks to the quirks of schedule with Hester beating Lombardo 67-65.
• David Synychak scored 82 points for the second straight week in a league 5 loss to fall to 2-9.
• Russ Goatcher has scored 126 more points in league 5 than the second highest scoring team in the league. That's 11.45 points per week. No wonder he's 10-1. He's averaged 101.2 points per week.
• Only two members in league 5 have more than seven wins or less than four wins.
• Matt Humpal scored 138 points this week to top league 5. He was three Marques Colston points and five Jermichael Finley points away from a lineup entirely in double digits. This week and week six when he scored 164 points have combined for 31.8% of his season total (949). He's 4-7 on the season and has topped 85 points only three other times.
• Humpal's tough luck loser was Aaron Freeman who scored over 100 points for the third straight week and fourth time in the last five weeks, but fell to 6-5 on the season.
• Anthony Lombardo scored 65 points in both league 5 and league 6 this week. He has yet to top 100 points in league 6 this season.
• Ryan Drzik scored 71 points this week in league 6, but managed to face Tom Buske who scored 70 points to move to 10-1. He's scored under 90 points six times this season including five times at 76 points or worse, but is still virtually assured of topping the league for the regular season.
• Ed Peck beat Eoin Adams 113-65 in league 6 in a matchup of high fortunes. Peck was 7-3 heading into the contest while Adams was 8-2. Peck's score was the first time either had topped 100 points in a week this season. Peck's now averaging 84.2 points per week while Adams is averaging 73.3 points per week. They're both in strong position to qualify for the postseason.
• Jason Oroszi topped 70 points for the first time this season in league 6, but lost 90-89 to fall to 0-11. He's now the only member without a win or tie.
• League 6 saw Nick White top 100 points for the fifth week in a row with 112 this week. He's one point behind Vern Lemke for the league points lead and is now 8-3 on the season.
• Mike Mitchell scored 106 points for the second straight week, but lost by four points to fall to 3-8 on the season. He was eight Brandon Marshall points away from a lineup full of double digits.
• In a general fantasy tidbit, Wes Welker actually outscored his QB 19-18 in the ASFL2 scoring format this week.
• Tim Schneider has scored the fourth most points in league 3, but has had the second most points scored against him for a 4-7 record. Only one other member below him has had within 100 points of his total scored on them.
• Leagues 7, 8 & 9 all had a tie this week.
• More ASFL2 leagues have had a tie this season than not had a tie. Leagues 1, 3, 5 & 6 have remained tie free while the other six have fallen victim, often more than once.
• The four members in league 7 who collectively scored 108 points with each one being below 35 points nearly tripled their cumulative total this week at 312 points. Only one of them was under 81 points as Jason Kaplan scored 51.
• Nathan Oake ended his string of five weks in a row with 100 points by only managing 91 this week in a league 7 win that moved him to 9-2.
• Eric Grossnickle scored five more points this week (84) than he had in his previous two weeks combined (54 & 25) in league 7.
• Pierre Bergeron scored 73 points this week in a close loss that dropped him to 3-8 in league 7. It was the nineth time this season he scored 78 points or less.
• Ryan Rodebush was part of a game that finished 86-86 for the second time in three weeks in league 10.
• Nathan Oake has scored 133 more points than the second highest points scorer in league 7. To be passed over the final two weeks of the regular season, the second place team would have to score 67 more points than him in each of the final two weeks. Oake has averaged 101.6 points per week this season.
• Matthew Hardman saw Brett Favre (32) & Ricky Williams (26) combine for 61.1% of his total for the week (95). Throw in Tony Gonzalez (14) and the three accounted for 75.8% of his total in a league 7 win to move to 5-6.
• Both Cecilia Elliot and Nick Hall saw six of the nine players in their respective lineups score in double digits in league 8 with Hall winning 110-108.
• Throwing out a single 40-point victory, league 9 saw five games finish with a margin of victory of ten points or less. Between the five games (0, 2, 5, 7, 2) the average margin of victory was 3.2 points. Even throwing in the 40 points game, the average margin of victory for the league was still under ten at 9.3 points per game.
• Nathan Oake was projected to score 116 points this week by Yahoo! with only two players projected to score nine projected below double digits. That's by far the highest projection I've seen when skimming results this season.
• Robert Casares scored 107 points this week in league 8 despite having Marshawn Lynch active for a negative point.
• Floyd Sullivan totalled 109 points for the week after scoring 93 total the previous two weeks in league 8. He's now 4-7.
• None of the games in league 8 was decided by more than ten points this week aside from a single 38 point win. The other five margins of victory (0, 6, 9, 8, 6) averaged out to 5.8 points per game.
• Jason Hurst is the only member of league 8 that has scored over 1,000 points for the season. He's just 5-5-1 to show for it and a half game out of the playoffs.
• Will Kozack scored 115 points in league 8 a week after scoring 66 points. He's topped 90 points just three times this season with his scoring being 108 points or higher each time it happened.
• Nick Hall scored 110 points or more for the third week in a row in league 9. His two point win clinched a playoff spot and he's now just a game back of the top spot in the league.
• League 9 now has four ties so far this season. That's a new ASFL2 record. The previous record was three ties in league 6 last season. There have now been ten total ties across all ASFL2 leagues so far this season.
• Ray Rossetti scored 103 points in a seven point league 9 win a week after putting up just 54 points. The win moved him into fourth place for the season despite having scored the third lowest point total in the league, only 17 points more than the low.
• While tying for the first time this season, Nick Alicea scored less than 107 points for the first time in five weeks. A win would have all but clinched a playoff spot for him in league 9, now he'll need at least one more win or some help.
• Robert Casares put up 107 points a week after scoring 51 points in league 9.
• Josh Evens failed to score more than 78 points for the ninth time this season in league 10 to fall to 2-9 for the year.
• In league 10, Ronny Funderburk has scored 77 points or less four straight weeks after scoring 92 or more the three weeks prior to the start of the current streak.
• Between all 12 and 14 team ASFL2 leagues the highest scoring teams that lost this week filled the values between 106 and 109 points. Tough luck all around this week.
• Only two sixth place teams across ASFL2 leagues aren't 6-5. League 2's second place team is 5-5-1 while league 10's sixth place team is 5-6.
• Six leagues have a seventh place team at 5-6 or the tied equivilent with three leagues having a seventh place team at 6-5 and one team having a seventh place team at 5-5-1.
• Nine members clinched playoff spots this week. Jay Soester (LG1), Christian Giovannetti (LG2), Dal Frederick (LG4), Will Moore (LG4), Nathan Oake (LG7), Brad Wilson (LG7), Matt Spencer (LG7), Kevin Whorton (LG8), and Nick Hall (LG9) are now guaranteed to be in the playoffs.
• Twelve members were eliminated from the playoffs this week. Bryan Crouch (LG1), Matt Burton (LG4), Mike Mitchell (LG6), Brad Wilson (LG6), Anthony Lombardo (LG6), Mark Boggs (LG6), Heath Carrell (LG7), Pierre Bergeron (LG7), Anders Nilsson (LG8), Eddie Fritch (LG8), Kevin Whorton (LG9), and Josh Evens (LG10) will get three extra weeks of their lives back.
• Kevin Whorton (LG8- in, LG9- out) and Brad Wilson (LG6- out, LG7-in) are both guaranteed to be in the playoffs and out of the playoffs.
• League 2 is the only league where no member has been eliminated through 11 weeks.
• Any member a game ahead of seventh place can clinch next week. Any member a game behind sixth place can be eliminated next week.
• I hope to be able to add playoff scenarios to the website over the holiday weekend. Watch the Fantasy Football Standings Home for a valid scenario's link under the link to this page.

Heading into MNF, Thomas trailed 85-83 with Steve Slaton going up against Nate Washington & Rob Bironas. Three weeks ago he would have been a heavy favorite, but with Slaton coming off a benching he was down as a nominal favorite hoping for a Slaton TD and a lack of Titans FGs. Nate Washington got his only point of the game for Giovannetti with 6:28 left in the first quarter. That was the first play from scrimmage after Slaton's TD catch to make the score 89-86 Thomas with plenty of game to go. Slaton wouldn't touch the ball again until after Bironas had hit a PAT to shrink Thomas' lead to 90-87 before the two traded points before the end of the half to make the halftime score 91-88.
Bironas hit a 50-yard FG midway through the third to give Giovannetti a 93-91 lead with Slaton spending almost as much time on the sidelines as he did on the field. The scoreboard wouldn't see action until a Slaton 23 yard reception with 4:43 left in the game put Thomas ahead 94-93. Two minutes later the Titans started a drive with Bironas needing to get a PAT for Giovannetti to get his second tie of the season or a field goal for a Giovannetti win. With one minute left it was coming close to having to hope for OT for a chance to avoid the loss, but a final Titans 5 yard catch set up Bironas' 53-yard game winner and Giovannetti's lead 98-94.
If the Texans had made their FG with a second left and won the coin toss Thomas would have had a chance to come back, but Kris Brown's miss secured the victory.

Tim led 83-54 heading into MNF, but Macaluso had Rob Bironas, Andre Johnson and Tennessee's D left to go to make things interesting. Through the first quarter, Tim's chances looked solid, but when Johnson scored a TD late in the second quarter it looked like things would go down to the wire. They did. Johnson would only catch one more pass, but it was worth five points. Tennessee's defense was good for seven points on the night as they held Houston in check, but couldn't manage any big plays. It all came down to the final minute of the game. All Macaluso needed for the win was a Bironas FG. Once the Titans moved within 55 yards of the goal posts it was obvious he was going to get a crack and it and he put it through from 53 for the Macaluso three point win. Had he missed Macaluso would have had a shot at Andre Johnson earning him the win or tie and if it had made it to overtime he certainly would have been favored, but Bironas got the job done without delay.

Buske had a sizeable lead with SNF and MNF to go. He was set on 70 through the day games, but Drzik had McNabb, McCoy, Olsen & Bironas left to play needing 44 points for the win, or ten points less than double his total to that point. Drzik's prospects were fading handily until late in SNF when LeSean McCoy broke into the endzone to add 7 points to his total to that point, Olsen's 3 and McNabb's 18 points. Both McCoy & Olsen would add a point on their team's final drive to bring the total Drzik needed from Bironas on MNF down to a somewhat reasonable 12 points. He would certainly need a high scoring game and/or a few 50-yard FGs. Flash forward to the last two minutes of the game and Drzik is down 4 points with the Titans driving toward FG range. Drzik needed Bironas to get a 50-yarder for the win or a 40-yarder for the tie. If Bironas didn't get any points or scored less than four points Drzik needed the game to go to overtime for a chance at avoiding the loss. Fortunately for him, Bironas hit from 53-yards for the Titans fourth win in a row and to move Drzik to 10-1 on the season.

All the action in this one happened on SNF. Oroszi led the matchup 78-76 with a QB (Cutler) going up against a WR (Jackson). Most of the time the QB is the favorite, especially when the players in question are on the same team, but given the fact that they were on different teams and Cutler has been turning the ball over as if he were employed in a Thanksgiving soup kitchen...this was a toss up. It was an entertaining toss up at that which wasn't decided until 45 seconds were left on the clock.
Heading into the fourth quarter, Oroszi led 91-88 with the Eagles down 20-17 and driving around midfield. He'd need a punt a long Bears drive with some passing to pad the lead with Jackson capable of scoring from distance. That didn't happen. The drive ended two players later followed by three short drives of no consequence. The Eagles then went on a 10+ play drive which nearly saw Jackson break into the endzone from the 10 yard line to end it. Fortunately for Oroszi, Jackson added just 2 points and the Eagles put a TD on the board without him to force the Bears to use Cutler with a one point lead in the matchup. When Cutler added a point with a minute left it was going to come down to whether or not he threw an interception and sure enough six plays into his final drive he threw a ball that got batted into the air for Oroszi's eleventh loss of the season. You know it's not your year when Brandon Gibson is a part of a team that bears you.

Hurst spent all of his players through the day games on Sunday. All that was left at that point was Vince Young, Andre Johnson and Chris Johnson going for Susanto on Monday night. They needed to put up 36 points collectively for the win. Ultimately the game came down to Susanto needing 3 points from the trio in the final three minutes of the game. Chris Johnson provided two of them right before and at the two minute warning. When Vince Young ran for 12 yards two plays later it left him a yard short of an extra fantasy pint, but it would be his last run of the game. If Andre Johnson didn't catch a pass for at least two yards the matchup would end up tied. When Matt Schaub used Derek Anderson and Kevin Walter to make it into field goal range the fate was sealed unless the game made it to overtime. You know the rest.

Alicea led 52-51 heading into SNF with a bevy of players left. Donovan McNabb & Brent Celek added 21 points to Allen's total while Greg Olsen and David Akers added 10 points to give Allen a 72-62 lead with Chris Johnson left for Alicea on Monday night. Give his record of late he was likely to get at least eight points from rushing yards alone. Alicea would need a slight boost in production on the ground, twenty receiving yards or a TD to get the job done. He got the extra yards on the ground, but only enough to tie thanks to LenDale White's pouching of a rushing TD at the end of the first half. LaDell Betts injury has to be the most dissapointing part of the matchup.

Rodebush led 79-76 heading into MNF with Tennessee's defense on his side and Chris Johnson on Schulte's side. Generally the edge would go to Johnson in this case, but a TD on either side would help the cause. The Titans defense managed just four sacks on the night in output, but keeping the Texans to a somewhat respectable point total gave them a respectable fantasy total. The game would come down to the final three minutes as Chris Johnson put up his final two points at the two minute warning to tie the game. Had the Texans made their field goal try at the end of the game it wouldn't have directly altered the scoreline, but it could have set up sudden death between Chris Johnson and his defense to determine who would get the chance to win it in this matchup. If the Texans had scored in overtime without turning the ball over or being sacked twice they scoreline would have changed in Schulte's favor without factoring Johnson's overtime output into account.

Honorable Mention

Greg Krause 76, Bill Horton 73 (LG3)- Good scoreline, but all players were used by SNF. Breaston's goose egg, especially in the face of his QB playing against him likely proved to be the difference for Horton. Peterson only putting up six points must be dissapointing also. Even more anger-inducing is the fact that he had Ryan Grant (15), Ricky Williams (26) & Chris Chambers (11) on his bench. If they were ideally switched Horton would have finished with 39 more points.

Tyson Hester 67, Anthony Lombardo 65 (LG5)- Hester was up 66-65 heading into SNF with Devin Hester's bareass efforts only giving him a two point victory. The game is most notable because they were the two low-scorers for the week in league 5. Both only had two players score in double digits. Lombardo didn't have a particularly appetizing bench to complain about leaving behind either.

Steve Irvine 75, Rick Macaluso 69 (LG5)- Irvine needed 13 points from Donovan McNabb on SNF for the win and got 18 from him. A late INT or a few breaks and Macaluso gets the win.

Robert Flatt 110, Mike Mitchell 106 (LG6)- Flatt wins despite having Benard Scott & Maurice Morris as his starting RBs for the week. I guess life's easier when you have Tom Brady and his two favorite targets. He featured five Patriots again this week with Stephen Gostkowski and their defense also in the mix. All players had played before the night games or this might have wound up as an actual nominee.

Susan Gantz 76, Pierre Bergeron 73 (LG7)- They were even at 70 heading into SNF, but Gantz had Matt Forte up against Brent Celek for Bergeron. It shouldn't of been as close as it was, but this hasn't been the Bears year by any stretch of the imagination.

Nathan Oake 91, Mike Miles 85 (LG7)- Oake led 81-61 heading into SNF with Cutler & Andre Johnson left to go for Miles and Chris Johnson left to go for Oake. Cutler halved the deficit for Miles to make things interesting with Andre Johnson & Chris Johnson both capable of exploding on any given night, but both had nearly equally solid days to keep Miles from coming back.

Ray Rossetti 103, Steve Campbell 96 (LG9)- Rossetti needed 18 points from Schaub on MNF for the victory. He knocked off the top team in league 9 with a 24 point effort from Schaub.

Dan McNair 84, Chris Harris 79 (LG9)- Lots of action in the pair of night games. McNair led 69-55 heading into SNF and expanded the lead to 84-66 heading into MNF, but faced Andre Johnson in the game. Eighteen points is within reason for Andre Johnson, but he fell five points short despite the first half TD.

Scott Cook 84, Scott Ludeviks 82 (LG10)- Any other week this would likely make it to actual nominee status, but this was the deepest week I can recall this season. 69-42 heading into SNF. DeSean Jackson & Devin Hester added 15 points to his total to increase the lead to 42 points, but Ludeviks still had Matt Schaub, Steve Slaton and Houston's defense remaining. Slaton's early TD reception gave Ludeviks plenty of hope, but he needed Schaub to be passing to Slaton on the Texans final drive and/or to force overtime to have a chance at the victory.

Nick Hall 110, Cecilia Elliot 108 (LG9)- Another instance of a game simply running out of spots to be nominated in. Elliot needed the Texans to make their last second FG so that Rob Bironas could kick both the real game winning kick and subsequently the matchup winning kick, but it didn't materialize.
