Tidbits |
• Only four members left winning points on their bench: Jay Soester (LG1), Eric Franckowiak (LG2), Shawn Temple (LG4) & Tyson Hester (LG5).
• Dan Thomas managed to have his kicker (Rob Bironas) put up 19 points in an 18 point league 1 win. He also had 17 points from his backup kicker in Jay Feely if he was needed.
• Jay Soester saw three of his players score 20+ points in a league 2 blowout win. Andre Johnson (31), Ray Rice (20) & Dallas Clark (22) led the way to victory.
• League 3's six seed, John Wright, saw Matt Schaub (23), Thomas Jones (18) & Jay Feely (17) combine for 69.9% of his 83 points.
• Wright's opponent, Rick Macaluso, saw Andre Johnson (31) & Tennessee's D (27) combine for more than half (51.3%) of his 113 points. It's bad luck when your opponents kicker scores more points than all but one player in your lineup.
• Colt Ciccone had two players put up zeros this week with another scoring a single point, but managed to win 95-78 in league 3 due in large part to Drew Brees & DeSean Jackson putting up 29 points each.
• Two of the four members with games this week had players put up a score of negative one.
• Five players in league 5's matchup between Aaron Freeman (123) & John Clarke (71) scored 20 or more points. Unfortunately for Clarke, three of them were on Freeman's team while Freeman also managed two others in double digits to his none.
• Brad Wilson saw his RB duo combine for 31 of his teams 64 points (48.4%) in league 7. Unfortunately for him, Andre Johnson's total matched that for his opponent.
• Matt Spencer saw three of his players (Kyle Orton- 20, Ryan Grant- 21 & Buffalo 21) score 20 points or more in a 116-84 win in league 7. Six of his nine players scored in double digits.
• Nathan Susanto scored 202 points in league 8. He won. I can't officially say it's the all-time ASFL2 record, but if it isn't I'll be thoroughly surprised. He may have been more fortunate to see the total in the regular season to boost his championship point total. Despite averaging 22.4 points per player, he still missed out on the illustrious feat of having a lineup entirely in double digits. Sidney Rice was his downfall with nine points. He managed three players with 30+ points in Andre Johnson (31), Brandon Marshall (32) & Chris Johnson (31) to go with three players in the 20s in Ray Rice (20), Dallas Clark (22) & Tennessee (27). You know it's a good week when your kicker scores 19 points. Yahoo! projected him to score 116 points.
• Susanto's opponent managed to score in triply digits, but still failed to see any of his players score as much as Susanto averaged per player.
• Jamey Dillard saw Peyton Manning (23), Thomas Jones (18) & Jay Feely (17) combine for 69% of his total (84) in a league 9 loss.
• Mike Miles won 101-64 in league 9 and in doing so saw Andre Johnson (31) nearly score half as many points for him as his opponent's total.
• Stephen Schulte saw Brandon Marshall (32) score 75% of his opponents total in a league 10 win. Chris Johnson was a point short of the feat himself. Had he sat the rest of his roster besides the two of them he would have still won by 15 points.
• Three seeds won seven of their ten matchups in the first round. The only losers came in leagues one, four and six. Seven of the ten topped 100 points with an average score of 114.4 points. The average was 104.7 points factoring out Susanto's 202 point day.
• Four seeds won six of ten with only two topping 100 points. The average score was 87.1 points.
• Five seeds won four matchups with only a single five seed topping 100 points. The average score for a five seed was 81.2 points.
• Six seeds won three games with three teams topping 100 points. The average score for a six seed was 85.5 points.
• Only one member that lost in the first round scored over 100 points with that unlucky member being Don Greenslate in league 8 who lost to Nathan Susanto's 202 points.
• Only one of the ten ASFL2 leagues saw the top two first round scorers within the league face each other (league 8). Two others saw two teams tie for the second highest score.

Franckowiak led 54-44 heading into SNF with David Akers, Tim Higtower & Hakeem Nicks up against Donovan McNabb, Steve Breaston & Brent Celek. The duel on SNF led to a big bump in points with the matchup tied at 78 following the game. That meant the spot in the semifinals would come down to Steve Breaston for Waxman and Tim Hightower for Franckowiak. Heading into the game, Hightower had scored 94 points on the season to Breaston's 72, but from the get go it was obvious neither player was likely to have a big day in the Cardinals offense. By halftime, Waxman led 79-76 as Hightower had fumbled and Breaston caught one pass for a single point. Nothing changed in the second half as Hightower caught two passes for a single point to make the final deficit two points. The most interesting part of the matchup was David Akers' missed PAT on SNF. Had he not had the kick blocked, he would have scored two more points than he did while keeping McNabb from scoring two points for Waxman for a 79-77 Franckowiak win. That's not even mentioning the countless drops from Nicks on SNF that could have turned this into a double digit Franckowiak win.

Heading into SNF, everything looked lost for Johnson as he trailed 68-21, but he had Eli Manning, Brent Celek & the Giants defense left against Tim Hightower for Temple. Manning alone more than doubled his point total from Sunday's afternoon games, but Celek & the Giants D helped to only tie Temple at 68 while he had one player left on MNF. He had to hope Hightower would go pointless for it to come down to the second tiebreaker, most QB points after both had three TDs to be locked through the first tiebreaker. When Hightower fumbled early in the second quarter, spirits became high, especially given the nature of the first half. When Hightower could only manage to catch two passes for a single point in the second half Temple had officially shot himself in the foot with a Hightower negative one. Had he played Ryan Moats or Justin Fargas he would have moved on to the semifinals.

Hester led 82-71 heading into SNF with Steve Smith left against Philadelphia's D. Heading into the game, Hester was certainly favored so long as the Eagles' D stayed out of the end zone. Unfortunately for him, they managed to return a fumble for a TD, return a punt for TD, cause three other fumbles and sack Eli Manning three times to overcome losing two points for giving up more than 35 points. Macaluso looked like a potential winner by the end of the first quarter, but it wasn't clinched until Smith was stopped on the Eagles four yard line with 1:31 left in the game. Oddly enough, had Hester played the Texans' D instead of Tampa Bay's he would have won by 14 points.

Following Ashe throughout the season has been interesting as he's usually had five Saints in his lineup, six on ocassion. With the Saints having a middling week the door was open for a defeat. Heading into SNF, Ashe led 78-49 with Brent Celek left against Eli Manning, Steve Smith & Vernon Davis. With the Eagles and Giants throwing the ball all over the field on SNF, Eli Manning wound up with one more point for the week than Drew Brees. Ultimately, Ashe led 90-86 with just Vernon Davis left for Kozack. Ashe had a chance as long as Davis stayed out of the endzone, but that chance was gone with 3:53 left in the first quarter.

Honorable Mention |
•Dan Thomas 109, Jay Soester 91 (LG1)- Thomas led 92-90 heading into MNF with Arizona's D and Vernon Davis up against Steve Breaston. Take MNF out of the equation and it might have made it to Game of the Week nomination.
•Tom Buske 104, Nick White 92 (LG6)- White trailed 104-93 heading into MNF, but had Kurt Warner left. Warner had scored 11 points in ten of 11 games so far this season, but his collapse on MNF didn't follow the trend.
•Nathan Susanto 202, Don Greenslate 106 (LG8)- You probably can't be mentioned enough if you score 202 points in a single week.
•Scott Cook 111, Ryan Drzik 98 (LG10)- Cook needed 18 points from Mario Manningham & DeSean Jackson on SNF to advance to the semifinals and clinched it with DeSean Jackson's long TD reception. Jackson accounted for 29 of the 30 MNF points.
