Tidbits |
Edgar Lebron scored 108 points this week to move to 6-0 on the season in league 1. He's scored 72 or less three of the six weeks with three weeks at 108 or more.
John Duffill scored 116 points this week in league 1 to move to 3-3 on the season. He had scored 121 points over the previous two weeks combined. Had Jay Feely scored two more points Duffill would have managed an entire lineup with double digits.
Over half the teams in league 2 scored over 100 points. Two others eclipsed 87 with the final three putting up 34, 57 and 69. The lowest winning score was 101 points.
Ben True & Christian Giovannetti tied at 107 in league 2 this week. I believe that's the highest scoring tie in league history. True had scored 109 points in the previous two weeks combined.
Deyanius Blackmon lost his first game of the season 120-91 in league 3, it was his third highest total of the season.
Jeff Brick beat Derek Allison 73-54 in league 3 this week. Insignificant normally, especially given both came in 1-4, but in something I'd like to calculate the odds of...both had scored the exact same totals in their respective matchups last week.
Barry Barnett remained winless in league 3 despite scoring 95 points this week. He lost to Mike Miles who eclipsed the 100 point mark for the fourth time on the season at 128 and is now 5-1.
Shawn Temple scored 101 points in league 4 this week to record his third straight week of 100+ points.
Will Moore nearly tripled his league 4 total from last week of 44 points with 123 points this week.
Matt Burton's 12-team league third highest total of 141 marked his first victory of the season with his previous high coming last week at 85 points. He handed Dave Brooke just his second loss of the season despite scoring 89 points. Burton was 3 Hauschka points and 1 Jets D point away from an all double digits lineup.
Andrew Senger scored 93 points in league 4 despite having Kerry Collins be worth negative five points.
Matt Humpal's 164 points in league 5 gave him a 98 point win over his opponent- the biggest thus far this season. He had a combined 129 points over the previous two weeks.
Russ Goatcher scored 115 points for the second week in a row to remain undefeated in league 5.
Robert Flatt's 167 point eruption in league 6 this week was 41.3% of his point total for the season through 5 weeks. That's a little over two weeks worth of the average week for his previous 5 weeks in week six. He managed to defeat his 100+ point scoring opponent by 55 in what would likely earn a bad beat jackpot in poker. As soon as I saw the point total I remembered Flatt has the team with 6 Patriots plus another on the bench.
Eoin Adams scored 87 points this week, his second highest total of the season to move to 5-1 in league 6, tied for tops in the league.
Adams beat Jason Oroszi, who's 55 points were just north of his 51.8 season average.
LeRoy Cushaway's 125 points in league 6 were only three points shy of his total for the previous two weeks. He moved to 2-4 this week.
Unfortunately scheduleing in league 7 where the high score (Eric Grossnickle's 123) defeated the third highest score (Mike Miles' 116) and the lowest score (Matthew Hardman's 51) lost to the third lowest score (Bill Richmond's 56). A switch of the matchups was in order. For symmetry's sake, the second highest score defeated the second lowest score on the week and the fourth highest score defeated the fourth lowest score on the week...in fact...every other proper pair in that fashion wound up facing each other. Quirky.
Kevin Whorton's point total in league 8 has had a seven or a nine in it, or both, each week: 70-91-79-97-109-79.
Peter Moir put up 115 points in league 9 this week after scoring 33 points last week. Thats almost a 350% increase.
Ray Rossetti's tied his second game of the year in league 9 thanks to the evens of Game of the Week nominee #6. He tied Nick Hall at 88 in week 2 before becoming a part of the second tie of teams over 100 points this week. He has the rest of the season to break the ASFL2 record of two ties in a season by Rick Macaluso last year.
League 9's seen three ties already this year, tying the ASFL2 record set by league 6 last season.
Chris Carter scored 88 points for the second week in a row in league 9.
Half of league 10 scored 100+ points.
Josh Evens scored just 41 points this week in league 10. He's scored 61 or less points four weeks out of six with the other two weeks at 106 or more.
Floyd Sullivan has the high point total for the season in league 8, but has just two wins to show for it while currently being in tenth in the standings.

Giovannetti headed into SNF down 11 points with just Roddy White to go. White's early touchdown moved him to just one point behind with the better part of three quarters left, but despite catching two balls in between it wasn't until 43 seconds into the fourth quarter that White tied things up. He came four yards short of winning it for Giovannetti.

Krause went into SNF down 98-90, but had Michael Jenkins and Michael Turner to go. With Jenkins early drops he slowly came out of the equation with just a point for the game. Chicago did a great job of stopping Michael Turner for the game, but his five yard TD with just 3:04 left in the game gave him the seven points Krause needed to win.

Heading into SNF, Masse led 96-95 with Michael Jenkins going up against Devin Hester for Tyson Hester. Early on it looked as though Jenkins had a chance at sticking with Devin Hester, but drops bit him early with Hester becoming important in the Bears comeback attempt.

This was a classic QB vs receiver game. Peck trailed Galvano 81-78 heading into MNF with Peck having Kyle Orton against Tony Scheffler for Galvano. Scheffler's TD late in the 3rd quarter gave Galvano a sizeable lead at the time, but Orton pecked away (no pun intended) at the lead until finally clinching the game for Peck with his controversial TD to Brandon Stokley with 2:55 left in the game.

Elliot trailed 101-99 heading into MNF with just Knowshon Moreno left for her. Moreno managed just 44 yards, or one less than 3 fantasy points worth, on the night with his final carry being a 3 yard scamper up the middle at the San Diego 8 on 2nd and 8 with 3:38 left in the game. The TD pass to Stokley on the next play sealed the tie. His only catch went for a yard in the wrong direction. Tom Brady accounted for more than half of Elliot's total for the matchup.

Honorable Mention |
Eric Grossnickle 123, Mike Miles 116 (LG7)- Grossnickle needed just a point out of Antonio Gates to win the matchup on MNF and he received seven of them. This is mostly mentioned because there weren't a lot of close games this week and both managed to put up 116 points.
Bill Richmond 56, Matthew Hardman 51 (LG7)- Richmond needed 8 points from Eddie Royal on MNF to win the matchup and managed to get 12 strictly from punt and kickoff return TDs. Royal didn't catch a pass. Had he only managed the kickoff return, Richmond would have lost by a point. This was relegated to honorable mention because Hardman featured three players who earned 0 points and one who earned -2.
Nathan Susanto 99, Will Kozack 90 (LG8)- Susanto needed 17 points from Kyle Orton and Brandon Marshall to prevail and got 21 from Orton to cover only 4 from Marshall. Orton's late touchdown sealed the matchup for Susanto.
Bob La Polla 84, Eddie Fritch 79 (LG8)- La Polla needed 3 points from Antonio Gates to win the matchup and managed seven despite it taking the better part of the game. This only made honorable mention because Fritch ran out two players who scored 0 points.
Chris Carter 88, Chris Harris 85 (LG9)- Carter needed 12 points from Brandon Marshall and Matt Prater on MNF to win the matchup. Prater's FG with 13:05 left in the game won the matchup for Carter despite Marshall's subpar game.
Bill Isley 111, Ryan Drzik 108 (LG10)- Drzik led 98-90 heading into MNF with Vincent Jackson going up against Phillip Rivers and LaDainian Tomlinson. A QB vs WR matchup is tricky to win on its own. Throw in the QB's RB and it becomes just enough to be insurmountable.
Bill McConnell 87, Ken Patton 82 (LG10)- Patton needed just 8 points from Matt Forte on SNF to win the matchup, but lost due to the 8 point swing that was the Falcons' goal line stand which resulted in his fumbling. If Forte gets in on either of those carries- or later in the game - Patton moves to 6-0 instead of falling to 5-1.
