Proposed Fantasy Football Rule Changes
11:48 PM ET on 6/22/15 by Jay Soester
After some experimenting in one league last season, I'm offering up a permanent change to the ASFL2 default Fantasy Football settings going forward.

Would you like to see weekly waivers introduced to our leagues?
  • No - Keep Free Agency unless the player has just been released.
  • Yes - Have a full Waiver Period from an individual player's Game Time to Tuesday

& Would you like to see a flex spot replace one of the three current WR spots?
  • No - Keep the Lineup as it currently is.
  • Yes - Drop a WR Spot for a W/R Flex
  • Yes - Drop a WR Spot for a W/R/T Flex

You must use the league message board to vote in polls. If you're having trouble logging in, please email me.

There is a longer description for each proposal within the poll itself.

These polls will be out for roughly 60 days, but the available Fantasy Football leagues should be announced on Tuesday.

New Feature: Email Reminder Links
10:44 PM ET on 4/27/15 by Jay Soester
I've fixed the email reminder script for Fantasy Games which feature it to include a link back to the game and, when applicable, a link to make each individual game pick.

The improvement applies to MLB Day-to-Day Pickem, NASL Pickem, Premier League Pickem, CFB Pickem, NFL Pickem, CFL Pickem, and NFL Locks. Please let me know if there are any problems.

New Feature: Site Search
11:24 PM ET on 10/24/11 by Jay Soester
The league website now features a new search feature which lets you utilize a custom google search to look for anything, anywhere on the website, including the message board.

Hopefully the navigation bar at the top of the page is enough for you to be able to move your way around the website, but if you're having a hard time finding what you're looking for, you can now search for it.

Assignments Available
6:07 PM ET on 4/21/11 by Jay Soester
I'm short on time as I look for a job, prepare for a job and work on various items on the website. I need help getting some of the more short-term pieces of work done as I work on long-term items and have an alternative assignment for those not capable or interested in the first two.

To sign up for any of the assignments, follow the assignment's link to the message board and reply to the thread with what you'd like to do. The first post of the thread will have more information about the assignment as well.

The Standings Assignment involves helping gather standings data for me so I can build the various standings pages for the main competition, Keeper Leagues and ASASFL. There are 112 bonus points available to multiple members via the assignment.

The Keeper Leagues Roster Assignment involves sorting out the final rosters from the three Keeper Leagues games not currently running so I can set up the draft pages for each division. The Standings Assignment needs to be finished before the non-football rosters are available to finish. Twenty-one bonus points are available to multiple members via the assignment.

The final assignment is a Writing Assignment. I'm looking for around a handful of members to write about ASFL2-related and sports-world related topics in an effort to create more content on the website, save me some time in writing periodically about league happenings, break the monotony of my name on the front page, and generally create some interest on the league website. For now I'm merely seeing who is interested and will figure out how bonus points are handled in the future.

Remember that assignments earn bonus points, which factor into the final championship standings. The first two seasons have seen a limit of 52 and 62 bonus points factored into the final championship standings. This season projects to have around 75 points due to the percentage allowed being upped from 10% to 12% with the loss of Salary Cap Football from the official game list. The 2011-2012 season could see the percentage upped again if either the NBA or NFL season is lost. All bonus points earned through these assignments will go toward the 2011-2012 season.

New Front Page Format
3:50 AM ET on 3/6/11 by Jay Soester
The ASFL2 website now features a dynamic front page.

You can now to view the top 10 in the standings for each conference as well as overall in the second section to the left.
Underneath the standings, you can view the ten most recent championship point scoring events.

Links to the last five message board posts are also available to the right underneath the twitter feed.
Below that, member birthdays and anniversarys are visible above the traditional "Related Links" box, which acts as a stunt-double for the navigation bar at the top of the screen. What anniversary is the box referring to? Those who signed up for the league on this date will appear with the number of years since their joining. It's my birthday, why am I not showing up? Either you've chosen to have your birthday remain private, or you haven't updated your member profile with your birthday.

Ever wonder why I kept as many pieces of news on the old page as I did? The bottom of the middle section allows you to change the page through all news items the league has saved.
The tags underneath each news item will link you to a search of their instances across all news items. The new "News" section has a few more items left to be finished, but the front page of each section of the website now features this formatting.

If you have any questions, suggestions or notice a problem, please respond to this thread on the message board. That thread also features information on the league going forward.

Conferences
5:48 PM ET on 2/9/11 by Jay Soester
Ever wondered how the conferences are broken up? If a state had residents in more than one conference? I undertook the task of sorting out the conference boundaries down to the zip code level and have added the results to the rules section. These breakdowns have been in affect for the 2011-2012 season with at least one member changing conferences as a result of the study. Please make sure to use your member profile to update your zip code as soon as possible if you're in a border state. I'm also looking to make a zip-code level, interactive map of the conferences, I'm offering five bonus points to anyone who can get it done.

Three Year Anniversary
3:03 PM ET on 11/14/10 by Jay Soester
On November 14th, 2007 a concept I had been bouncing around in my head for a few months came to fruition as I created the first pages of the website and consulted with members from my previous endeavor (the ABL) to see who was interested. By the new year the league had grown larger than I had thought possible when I started. Thanks to everyone for your participation.

The next few weeks are liable to see a delay in standings pages being updated compared to the normal update speed due to my personal schedule. Please bare with the delays as I squeeze things in around due dates, deadlines, quizes and tests.
