MLB Standings Pickem Results

Congrats to Charles Yelverton for winning the 2012-2013 edition of MLB Standings Pickem with 137 points. Jeffery Murowsky was second at 133 points. Matt Humpal, Jeremy Galloway and Matt Gordon all tied for third and rounded out the top five with 129 points. Murowsky earned 0.5 extra championship points for scoring the most points on league pick points (57). Jeremy Galloway earned the extra points for having the most divisional pick points (51). Ryan Drzik earned the bonus for having the most record points (26). Michael Lytle earned the extra half point for scoring the most on playoff picks (23); he and Tim Schneider were the only members to pick the Giants to win the World Series before the season began and earn an extra half point for that as well. With the bonus, Michael Lytle came away with the most championship points from the game with 15.75.

I hope to have the 2013-2014 edition of MLB Standings Pickem set up in the next few weeks.

The 2012-2013 championship standings are now updated with the results. Brad Wilson shrunk Jay Soester's lead at the top from 36.91 points to 29.53 points. Nathan Susanto stayed in third and gained a small amount of ground while Steve Steffy jumped ahead of Brad Duff from fifth to fourth by 0.17 points. The rest of the top ten stayed the same while Charles Yelverton's game win jumped him from 15th to 13th.

When updating the game results, I noticed a mistake in MLB Playoffs Pickem which effected the top ten. The Giants had been scored as winning the World Series in seven games instead of four. The game results and championship points have been fixed. I apologize for the error.

Public Service Announcement

The NBA season starts tonight at 7 PM ET with the Cavaliers hosting the Wizards. The national broadcasts kick off on TNT with the Heat getting their rings before hosting the Celtics at 8 PM ET. Make sure you're NBA Standings Pickem entries are in by 6:57 PM ET.

As always, I'd like to make the public service announcement that NBA League Pass can be seen for free by those with access until next Tuesday, November 6th. Hopefully I'm not alone in enjoying free stuff.

NBA Standings Pickem Available

NBA Standings Pickem is now available.

The deadline for entries is 6:57 PM ET on Tuesday, October 30th. Your records must add up to the correct number of games. The combined win total of all 30 teams should equal 1230, same with the overall loss total. Review your entry to make sure you aren't being penalized.

This is also the last call to submit your bid to earn one of our Keeper Leagues Fantasy Basketball teams for this season. If you're new the process, read the introduction. I hope to begin sorting out teams on Sunday. The drafts begin on Wednesday. If you're not already in your league on Yahoo! please get in as soon as possible to secure your place.

College Football Pickem Available

The debut of College Football Pickem on the website is upon us. It's the 13th official game and the 19th total game to be featured on the website. Admittedly, the game is under tested, but time's run out and I'm fairly confident it's free of major bugs on the front end. If you notice any mistakes, please let me know.

The championship point payouts mirror those of NFL Pickem for the most part, while the game scoring is the same as that for AFL Pickem. I went with the AFL Pickem rules to put more emphasis on a correct pick more as this game will be far more prone to predicting blow outs than NFL Pickem.

For a full explanation of the game rules, go here. Each week will feature 25-30 games with each game of an AP Top 25 team being included. The final game week (#14) will cover two weekends: conference championship weekend & Army-Navy weekend. FCS playoff games may be included if needed to reach 25 games.

After signing up for the game, submit your predictions for the final regular season standings and then the subsequent playoff results. The deadline for entries is 8:27 PM ET on Wednesday, September 5th.

Overall Standings Pickem Results

Dave Berrong won Overall Standings Pickem with 553 points, 40 more than Matt Humpal's 513 in second place. Dario Ambrozwiez was the only other member to crack 500 points with 506 combined from MLB, NBA, NFL & NHL Standings Pickem. Andrew Senger & Brad Duff rounded out the top five. Berrong earned the five extra championship points for the victory along with the 21 other members to finish in the top quarter of all 87 members to participate in at least one standings pickem game.

The 2011-2012 championship standings are now updated through all games. Michael Lytle jumped into the top ten the latest results. With a top score of 755.99 points before bonus points are added, each member's bonus point total up to 75.60 points will be added to the final, official standings. I hope to have everything sorted out by Wednesday night. Only four sets of bonus points remain to be ironed out, those from the Hockey & Basketball Standings Assignment (specifically from two of the 28 leagues), those from the NHL & NBA Playoffs Assignment, and those from member post counts & message board time logged in. I'll be double checking the championship points log as well, if you notice any mistakes, please let me know as soon as possible; once they're final, they're final.

NBA Standings Pickem Results

Dave Berrong ran away with NBA Standings Pickem at 228 points, 33 more than Jay Soester in second place. Sean Lambert, Nathan Susanto & Andrew Senger rounded out the top five and the list of members within 40 points of Berrong. Berrong swept the non-postseason bonuses with 0.50 championship points earned from having the most record pick points (46), conference pick points (76) & divisional pick points (72). He was one short of the high mark for playoff points, achieved by David Cords, Anthony Pena Jr. & Jeffery Murowsky at 35. Nineteen had the Heat at the beginning of the season for the 0.5 championship point bonus with only one of the 41 entries not earning the bonus for having at least 75% of the playoff participants. Berrong ran away with the most championship point for the game at 17.5, nearly four more than Jay Soester in second and more than four more than Nathan Susanto in third.

The 2011-2012 championship standings are now updated with the results. Nathan Susanto jumped back ahead of Anders Nilsson on to the podium in third with the game results. Elsewhere in the top ten, Mark Yothers jumped into eight ahead of Aaron Freeman from ninth. A lot of movement happened within the top 20, while David Cords made his way into the distinction.

Only the results for NBA Playoffs Pickem and overall Standings & Playoffs Pickem remain before bonus points are factored in and the standings are official.

NHL Standings Pickem Results

Congrats to Matt Humpal for winning NHL Standings Pickem with 132 points. Dave Berrong finished in second with 128 points, but earned the most championship points with 16.13 to Humpal's 16 due to the two of them tying Nick Hall for the most points earned from team point total picks, but his also having earned the most points from conference picks. David Synychak, Andrew Senger & Patrick Cooley rounded out the top five. John Wright earned the most points from division picks while Kevin Whorton earned the most points from playoff picks as the only member to pick the Kings to win the Cup. Only three others had them reaching the Finals.

The 2011-2012 championship standings are now updated with the results. In the top 20, Matt Humpal jumped back in front of Aaron Freeman for 7th place and Dave Berrong passed Tyson Hester and Kevin Cheek into 14th. There are still four game results to be factored in before bonus points.

With the 2011-2012 projected standings now virtually the same as the championship standings, you'll notice the 2012-2013 Top 10 displayed in the second box on the left column of the front page. Congrats to those who've started well in the new season and to Brad Duff for currently occupying second place in both seasons.
