ASASFL Hiatus |
5:53 PM ET on 8/25/12 by Jay Soester |
I'd imagine most of those affected realized this by now, but the ASASFL leagues will be going on hiatus for the coming season.
I made the decision back in June for a few reasons.
-I need to decrease my current workload in order to work on progressing the league in other ways while my available time is shrinking as is.
-I'm under the impression that the leagues may have become a burden to those that qualify for two of the three leagues on top of the leagues for the main competition.
-There is some redundancy between the Champions League & Keeper Leagues Premier Division as the best tend to be in both.
-My goal was always to create a reward for qualifying and/or winning the leagues, be it monetary or simple trophy. Unfortunately, the league finances have never allowed me to do that. Once that's possible, I'll likely revive the leagues, though they'll likely be 12 team leagues at most.
With the Third League no longer around to reward those that accumulated the most bonus points in a season, I'll now be creating a late league in each draft game. The top 15-20 in the most relevant standings (either the prior season or the current season) will be invited to have a second team in the main competition, on a first-come-first-serve basis. The draft will always be on a different day and time than any of the leagues originally announced. With my time limited, I need as much help as I can get and will therefore be trying to place an added importance on bonus points.
Those that would qualify each season will still be acknowledged even if the leagues don't come to be.
2012-2013 Qualifiers:
Champions League: Jay Soester, Brad Duff, Nathan Susanto, Anders Nilsson, Brad Wilson, Mark Yothers, Aaron Freeman, Russ Goatcher, Michael Lytle, Robert Flatt, Matt Humpal, Robert Boyce, Dave Berrong & Jeffery Murowsky
Super League: Greg Krause, Brian Secord, Tyson Hester, David Cords, Nick Hall, Mike Brekke, Tom Vobejda, Kevin Cheek, Dario Ambrozewiez, Chris Wanned, Matthew Hardman, Don Greenslate, Kevin Whorton & Susan Gantz
Third League: Jay Soester, Brad Wilson, Andrew Senger, Don Greenslate, Nathan Susanto, Anders Nilsson, Kevin Whorton, David Cords, Nick Hall, Patrick Cooley, Dave Berrong, Michael Byrd Sr., Brad Duff & Aaron Freeman.
I anticipate setting up the late league for those that qualify in the next 48 hours. Watch your inbox.

12:02 AM ET on 7/16/12 by Jay Soester |
An ASFL2 season always has more than the overall championship at stake. Six conference champions were crowned, a Rookie of the Year was determined, a New Member of the Year was determined, five tier winners were named, and two sets of 14 members qualified for the 2012-2013 ASASFL Champions League & Super League.

ASASFL Fantasy Football Info Sent |
4:10 AM ET on 6/20/11 by Jay Soester |
Yahoo! league IDs and passwords have been emailed along with details on how the drafts will work to all qualifiers. Please join your league in Yahoo! as soon as possible to make my job slightly easier.
General information about the ASASFL leagues was also included for first timers.
Unfortunately, draft times won't be determined and draft pages won't be set up for around a month due to the nature of the NFL's status and my personal schedule. Please check here, the message board and your inbox for updates about the drafts.
The Champions League's draft order is determined by a draft of its own with the order in which you can select your pick being based on the championship standings from the 2010-2011 season. Mike Miles has the first choice of pick from 1-14 with Anders Nilsson having second, Jay Soester having third and all the way down the list to John Wright. When the draft page is set up, I'll send an email to all participants giving timelines for the selection of draft picks. To make things as simple as possible, I strongly encourage all participants to email me the pick(s) they want in order.
The Super League's draft order is determined by the championship standings from the 2010-2011 season with the highest ranked member receiving first pick and so on down the line.
The Third League's draft order is determined by bonus point count from the 2010-2011 season; again with the highest total receiving the top pick and so on.
If you have any questions about the ASASFL leagues, feel free to email me or reply to this thread.

The 2010-2011 season had a lot more than just Mike Miles' championship at stake. Six conference champions were crowned, a Rookie of the Year was determined, a New Member of the Year was determined, five tier winners were named, and fourteen members qualified for the 2011-2012 ASASFL Champions League & Super League.

3:47 AM ET on 6/14/11 by Jay Soester |
With the Bruins win on Monday night, the 2010-2011 ASFL2 season will finish on Wednesday night in Vancouver with game seven of the Stanley Cup Finals after over 17 months of competition.
The final bonus point totals have been determined in advance for each member. If you believe I've left something out or otherwise made a mistake, you have until 11:59 PM ET Wednesday night to notify me of the problem. This link has the final standings with running explanations for points given throughout the thread.
With the standings set, I can congratulate the 14 qualifiers for the 2011-2012 ASASFL Third League:

Fantasy Hockey Final Results |
11:48 PM ET on 4/11/11 by Jay Soester |
The overall Fantasy Hockey standings pages are now updated through the end of the playoffs. Dave Berrong, Jay Soester and Mike Miles were the only members to finish first for their league's regular season, weekly win/loss standings, roto standings and playoffs. Berrong's top combination score led him to have the most championship points from the game. His 82 was just one more than Soester and two ahead of Will Kozack, who was one roto point away from joining the other three as perfect in their league. Mike Miles was four back at 78. Those four were the only members to top 70 championship points from the game.
Miles picked up 16 points on Anders Nilsson and is now 27 points back of him in the 2010-2011 Championship standings. He'll close the gap further when Fantasy Basketball ends on Wednesday. The full standings before and after the update are available on this post.
The chase for Champions League qualification is also heating up. The results from Fantasy Hockey saw Jason Oroszi fall from ninth place to 15th place and Robert Flatt fall from 11th place to 14th place. That opened up Champions League spots for Dave Berrong, who moved from 17th to ninth and Tyson Hester who moved from 18th to 13th. The 2010-2011 Championship Standings page features the current qualifiers for both the Champions League (in red) and Super League (in orange). Currently, Robert Flatt is 12 points back of Tyson Hester for the final Champions League spot, while Doug Lidiak is two points back of Matt Campbell and Don Greenslate is four points back of Tim Schneider for the final two Super League spots.
Aside from ASASFL qualification and the battle for the championship, the race to finish in the top five is shaping up to be quite interesting as well. Currently, fourth through eighth are separated by just 14 points. Nathan Susanto is currently fifth, just one point ahead of Chad Gumm in sixth.
Of course, all of this will likely change drastically on Wednesday with the influx of points from Fantasy Basketball...
